Things that have changed physically since you had a baby....

Light-hearted ish!

My LO is 10 months old and while I know having a baby changes your body, I may not have been fully prepared 😂

In particular;

  • I have to 'tuck my tummy in' jeans and trousers! *my boobs feel a bit "empty" now and ache if I don't sleep in crop top sports bras
  • Don't even get me started on the perils of jumping jacks 😂

Can you help cheer me up while I dellusionarily dream of hipster jeans, cropped tops and perky boobs? 😂

Physically my body seemed to want to go back to ‘normal’ indecently quickly. Emotionally is another matter. My body adjusted much faster than my mind!

Fluffyc1ouds · 13/11/2023 13:36

Your boobs might come back! I was left with boobs like used teabags after breastfeeding but DS is school age now and my boobs are better than they were pre-kids.

Crop tops are out of the question, but I don't think the having-kids part would matter there. I feel like they're dedicated to those in their early 20s.

For some reason my feet grew and I no longer fit in the shoes I had before having a baby.

bloody stretchmarks😪

IHeartGeneHunt · 13/11/2023 13:40

Diastasis recti, boobs like two melons in a pair of tights and feet a size and a half bigger

Pippim · 13/11/2023 13:42

Not much really. I was 40 when I had my last baby, not especially fit, and everything went back into place quickly. Slightly weaker pelvic floor and I guess my breasts ended up a fraction smallerafter breast feeding but they were tiny to begin with.

PlumpShady · 13/11/2023 13:43

My daughter is 2 and I still wee a little bit when I sneeze

xogossipgirlxo · 13/11/2023 13:47

Physically nothing’s changed, I have PND though

Hagpie · 13/11/2023 13:48

My hip bones are wider, my rib cage comes out more and I have stretch marks… and I’ll still wear crop tops.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 13/11/2023 13:49

My youngest is 12yo so these are permanent changes that I noticed immediately after having him - My rib cage is a great deal bigger, my feet are wider and I now very rarely have migraines.

A women’s health physio can help you strengthen your pelvic floor.

GodspeedJune · 13/11/2023 13:53

Yes, rib cage is definitely bigger! I’m lighter than before pregnancy but some of my old tops are too tight.

Boobs have taken a hit, they went huge during pregnancy and I think that did the damage!

Dependabledentures · 13/11/2023 13:55

Yes many things have gone south and a bit more jiggly but I have also developed ninja like superhero powers to intervene quickly to stop my chuld injuring themselves (95% of the tine)

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/11/2023 13:56

I’ve got better eyebrows and cheekbones. Slightly downier cheeks. Massive boobs. Hips look a bit wider when I’m naked but not sure they are as my clothes fit the same. I’m 7 months pp with my second and things continue changing for ages. A year after my first I lost an inch from my ribs without any change in weight and still breastfeeding.

I’ve got a huge hip to hip scar from very complicated EMCS with my first which bothered me a lot for a while but no longer.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/11/2023 13:57

My left arm is the strongest it’s ever been. Mum says hers is still more toned and stronger than her right from years of carrying babies and toddlers around and her youngest is 35.

BertieBotts · 13/11/2023 13:58

OP it sounds like you need physio. It's not as easily given in the UK whereas it seems to be more standard in other countries. I wonder if @gussiegrips is still on here?

Wilkolampshade · 13/11/2023 13:59

Agree with PP that you may find empty breast syndrome gets significantly better with time.
Mine were like a couple of used tea bags for a long while after breast feeding but cheered up a few years down the line.

SeymourBusiness · 13/11/2023 13:59

Yes feet!! No one told me about the feet! I’m a whole size nicer (and I’m slim so it’s not fat feet) 😂

Ankerdam · 13/11/2023 14:00

Literally nothing except permanent frown lines, and honestly there are a lot of things I'd have taken over deep creases bang smack in the middle of my face. 😣

tealweasel · 13/11/2023 14:03

My 'favourite' one (not) is that I appear to have developed postpartum asthma - apparently it can be brought on by hormonal changes including pregnancy!

wineandmaltesershappyme · 13/11/2023 14:23

I cry more, and she's 7! Even Christmas carols get me teary.
Baggy tummy, still. Sad

MrsCLogan · 13/11/2023 14:53

The Little flyaway/ unicorn hairs on my hairline from postnatal hair loss and breakage made me look like I’d been electrocuted on bad hair days 18 months on it still looks like I’ve attempted to cut in a long fringe with kids scissors and stopped halfway through

MissMistyy · 13/11/2023 15:25

I now have curly hair after 30 odd years of poker straight hair.

And wider feet.

Youngest is two so almost everything else is back to normal and my section scar is pretty small. I somehow managed to dodge stretch marks through two pregnancies and have now decided it must be genetics because I didn't use any fancy creams or oils.

MariaVT65 · 13/11/2023 15:28

Stretch marks

Flabby stomach (not quite the c section apron though)

Weight gain due to lack new lifestyle with less exercise, no desire to cook different meals for everyone and no sleep

Biggest issue for me has been hair loss. I have thin hair already and my postpartum hair loss was horrendous. Never recovered.

LittleRobins · 13/11/2023 15:44

Gallstones and an umbilical hernia, oh the joys!
