Does anyone drink a good herbal tea that has benefits to your health?

I'm looking at Green Tea, can anyone recommend a good one?
But also I'm interested to hear of people who drink herbal teas that help their health in a certain way.
I drink so much tea and milk and the caffeine gives me palpitations.
Thanks in advance ☺️

Not tea but I start every day with 1 pint of lemon water. Basically squeeze out half of a lemon into either tepid, cool or warm water and drink before eating or drinking anything else. I only have 1 coffee in the morning now, the rest of the day is just lots and lots of water.

Sorry posted too soon- health benefits are good digestion, keeps you regular, gives you great skin and starts the day with an excellent source of hydration. Use a straw to avoid too much acid on the teeth. Limes work too, although I find lemons give you much more juice.

Green tea still has caffeine!

There's not really any tangible health benefits other than the hydration, or i guess if it's a herb like ecinachea etc. 'Detox' and all that is rubbish. I have yet to find my ideal fruit tea. Mint is supposed to aid digestion, but I don't fancy that first thing.

I drink mint tea (the Pukka one that has three types of mint) if I’m feeling bloated and I think it helps. I also have a few ‘spicy’ ones that I’ll drink if I’m feeling cold or a bit rundown as they warm you up from the inside - ones with ginger or cardamom in

I find with most herbal teas I need to use two bags at a time to get any benefit though!

truetruebarneymcgrew · 13/11/2023 07:51

I drink herbal tea, because my body can't cope with caffeine, but I'm not convinced by any health benefits, I think it's more likely a placebo effect. I genuinely like the taste of camomile (takes me back to my childhood, when my granny would pick it, dry it and the make tea from it) so even though it makes no difference to me getting off to sleep (insomniac) it reminds me of warm summer days, and fresh cut hay!
I like rosehip tea, and add a teaspoon of honey. That's my morning go to drink, again I'm not convinced about it's 'zing' effect, as I still feel knackered, but I like it.

Cut down your black tea if it's giving you palpitations, but do keep drinking it in lower quantities if you can and you enjoy it. No herbal tea has the solid proven benefits of green or black tea (or coffee if you can tolerate it which I guess you probably can't). Decaffeinated tea may have similar benefits but it's less well studied, worth a try.

Personally if I want something decaffeinated in the evening I have turmeric and/or ginger based drinks, which I enjoy and feel like they're doing me good even though the evidence on the turmeric in that form is distinctly lacking.

Thank you!!
That sounds a good way to start the day and good idea about using a straw!

Of course, I didn't think about it still having caffeine. I don't like the taste tbh but heart very high in antioxidants although I guess black tea does too.

Lots of solid evidence that 3 cups of coffee each day are excellent for liver health.

I do like a mint tea, I had forgotten that thank you! I do get bloated easily.

I will limit it to maybe 1 or 2 a day. When I'm at work I can't as can't drink on shift only in mu break but on a day off I just can't stop drinking it then my heart is jumping around everywhere at night and I can't sleep.

I drink tumeric tea, the one from pukka. Tumeric has a lot of health benefits as an antiinflammitory.

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 13/11/2023 08:31

Rooibos Earl grey for me. Apparently it's full of antioxidants but it's also delicious and a good substitute for black tea (you can add milk if you like)

BrimfulOfMash · 13/11/2023 08:34

I have been trying to train myself to drink green tea for the antioxidants. Herbal tea is like drinking mouldy hay, IMO.

I now have a cup of Twinings Ginger Green Tea. Made strong. Ginger also being good for us.

MonsteraMama · 13/11/2023 08:35

I started drinking peppermint gunpowder tea a year or so ago. It's very refreshing. Supposedly it's good for your heart, immune system and promotes weight loss. I don't know if those things are true, but I have only had one cold this year whereas I normally have loads and I've lost four stone (obviously not solely from the tea, I've revamped my whole diet). It might have contributed to these things, it might not, but it's yummy and knocks the mid afternoon slump out of my head better than coffee!

TotalOverhaul · 13/11/2023 08:46

In the afternoon and evening I switch to vanilla rooiboos which tastes delicious with milk but is caffeine free. I also sometimes drink Twinings immune support herb tea, or their beetroot and orange or lemon and ginger. All good alternatives to black tea.

Green tea as lots of caffeine, I think.

PeaceBreaksOut · 13/11/2023 08:59

Antioxidants in pill form are definitely a bad thing. It's amazing how long that message is taking to filter through to public consciousness.

HumphreyCobblers · 13/11/2023 08:59

I heard they count towards the thirty different plants a week total that Tim whatsit (Zoe app man) recommends

Worldgonecrazy · 13/11/2023 09:11

I like Greek Mountain Tea with honey. Lots of rumoured health benefits and it’s delicious too. I drink it ice cold.

It’s popular in Ikaria, one of the blue zones for longevity.

AzureBlue99 · 13/11/2023 09:19

I like the Pulkka Three Mint, it's refreshing. But mint tea is not great if you suffer from acid reflux. It's one of the known triggers.
