Anyone else love being up and about before the rest of the family?

It’s bliss on the sofa at the moment. Even the Labradors are still snoozing. There was a brief flurry from the cat who has now vanished upstairs. Later on we’ve got Remembrance services, a dog walk, lunch out, a birthday party, laundry and homework.

In the summer, I’d probably sit out in the garden. But now I’m on the sofa, with a view of the frosty grass. I’ve got a pint of tea, my reading lamp, a magazine and am planning on half an hour, an hour if I’m lucky of peace.

Anyone else absolutely love this time of day?

I appreciate it when it happens. My kids are still young enough that their wake time is hit and miss. I can't wait until I get that guaranteed hour instead of children emerging between 5 and 7.

When Dts were small I used to get up ewely to have a coffee in peace, they were always up by 630 latest but I need that space without them to get a good start to the day.

always

I wish but my kids track me down, if they hear me up, and they do as the stairs creak. Really annoys me!

Mine are all still asleep and I've been up for half an hour. We had a very busy day yesterday and older two (9 and 11) didn't get to bed until 10pm.

Have put the heating on and am sitting in a fluffy blanket with the friendly cat on my lap. Someone will be up soon no doubt but I love this time.

I am up before everyone else at least 5/7 but it's nice when it's on a non school day.

Me too!
I've unloaded the dishwasher, put the washing machine on, made a proper cup of coffee and I'm going to watch some Netflix.
Mine are all teens so I'll have plenty of time.

A few years ago I started setting my alarm earlier so I have about 30 minutes to drink a cup of tea in peace and quiet before I have to start waking DC up and getting on with the day. I was, and still am, exhausted and sleep deprived, so it didn’t seem like a helpful suggestion but a gradual start to the day does help.

Mine wakes so early, it’s very rare I am up before. I would have to wake at 4.30am to get a reliable hour peace

This

I often wonder what it's like in that parallel universe 🤣

Piscesmumma1978 · 13/11/2023 22:33

I used to do it on Christmas morning. I'd have an hour peace before waking the kids. I needed it before the mayhem!

I'd do it more often but I love my bed too much 😂

I love it on Christmas morning. Outside with the birds singing, sun coming up, new day etc. Get the house open while it’s cool and fresh. Magical.
