anyone started Botox and fillers in 30s?

I'm almost mid 30s and I wanted to hold off for as long as possible, however I can see a loss of volume in my face and it depresses me, particularly around my eyes and mouth area. Nasolabial folds are more pronounced and I've got the very start of marionette lines. Also have mild frown lines and crows feet, no forehead lines of yet.
I feel that I just like a bit more tired even if I've slept well, though I have been stressed lately. My diet is ok, probably too much sugar, however I've never smoked and I am teetotal.
I wear factor 50 daily and don't sunbathe etc.
I get told I have nice skin, but I can just see the difference in myself. I use tretinoin and moisturiser daily, but ageing is inevitable I suppose.
I don't want to buy into the whole youth is beauty thing, and I feel like I should accept my face is changing. I feel too young to be starting these procedures and to be seeing these signs of ageing, I wasn't expecting it until 40s.
Anyone else? I'm just worried about the cost and the upkeep too.

How I look is pretty insignificant what matters is my family, my friends, going out, having lots of fun and love and laughter not that my nasal whatever the fuck is a bit lined up.
But if you are worrying about your size and shape you probably don’t have all of the above in your life.

And in other posts -comparing ourselves to actresses etc who are wrinkled but ‘look great’is naive imv - they will have had treatment of some sort.
Judy Murray had her scrawny Turkey neck fixed - it looks great now and no signs of scars etc amazing!

Imagine if all the trained medical professionals using their time to inject Botox into people with low self esteem actually used their time to treat people for health reasons. Imagine if all the people spending their money on Botox spent their money on therapy so they felt good enough. Imagine if all the people influencing women (and yes, some men) turned their hand to influencing people to do good things.

Imagine women (and men) having different views and preferences to your own. Go on, John, give it a go

How does that work? Most (not all) HCPs provide these services alongside clinical practice. There won't be many who inject botox all day long. Do you require them all to do extra shifts on the wards instead of earning a bit of additional cash doing some stints on aesthetics stuff? Why? The money hardly makes sense. Do you volunteer all of your time to helping strangers' self esteem?

You seem to have been triggered by my post,. Are you someone who injects Botox for aesthetic reasons?

Just my opinion but I think when people get botox it sometimes has the adverse effect and makes them look older as there's a sort of frozen look and it seems like they are 40s trying to look 30s... Young faces have lines and move when animated... It looks very different

I'm late 40's and I think it's obvious who has used Botox and fillers. I don't think it slows down ageing, it just can look odd. Whatever you do, keep it subtle. But putting on some weight will help - what's the saying, you can choose between (the size of) your arse or you face.

I started at 28, Mine was due to migraines through the squinting at the computer. My Mother always looked years older and I think its helped. I had lip fillers due to a nurse friend training but hated it. I will continue with Botox though but will taper it down as I get older (45 now)

MrsMaracas · 13/11/2023 19:21

I started aged 29. 41 now no regrets. I agree your BMI is low but I'd rather low than high as we tend to gain as we age.

What a load of crap.

People can only care about their looks if they are missing something in life?

How very odd.

So many people have botox and I thought I would give it a go.

Well I ended up being one of those who has had side effects, life altering ones that they just casually put at the bottom of the consent form as if it’s nothing and will never happen to you.

Please think twice, it’s not worth it.

Freeformfire25 · 13/11/2023 20:24

@fantafruittwists I’ve never seen fillers look good, Botox is good but baby Botox is best. Have you looked into things like PRP and microneedling? That might improve the condition of your skin long term rather than a more short term and sometimes clumsy effect you get from fillers and (some types) of Botox. Might help with the puffiness too.

I totally agree with this. I think it looks like someone older trying to look younger. Take the girls on Love Island as an example. Often they look like mid 30s women trying to look younger via botox, filler etc and then you find out they're 25! 😳

What an oddball response. 'Triggered'? Mildly amused at the pomposity of your turn of phrase and assumption that clinical staff shouldn't be allowed their own paid pursuits. And no. My work is clinical but not aesthetics. It's nice having the option though, thanks.
