Triple p parenting

I've seen our council advertise this recently and it said it's free.
Online probably.
Don't even know what time/day it's on so don't know if it's possible
But has anyone done this?
My child is 10 if that helps.
Can anyone tell me what it's if they have experience?

Its a parenting course designed to help people manage their child's behaviour better by teaching then methods and tactics to.use
I went.on the Triple P stepping stones course its adapted for parents of children with disabilities
It wss something I was referred for
It was just prior to the pandemic and actually finished abruptly because of Covid
My course was in person ,but I have no idea if that has all changed since Covid .

Thank you.
This one just says triple p. It doesn't say anything about stepping stones.
Did you find it good/useful?
Was it all just them telling stuff or was you want other people discussing things about your child?.
I don't know much about these things

I've attended this. I had to go on it as part of the pathway to diagnose my DS with autism. It could be useful depending on your knowledge of parenting. It was purely online as did it during the COVID years.

As it was online you could do the course when you wanted. It was in 2 hour blocks of I remember correctly.

I just found it patronising. It used a lot of clips from super nanny from years ago. I think a course in person would be much more useful. You could then discuss issues with other parents too.

I think it depends what you are looking for ,I didn't find it taught me anything I didn't already know, but I have Bern on several parenting courses due to.my sons complex disabilities, but if you have never been on other courses you might find it helpful.
I assume the course will be the orginal Triple p., not the adapted one I went on
The good thing wss meeting other parents in similar situation ,but if yours is on line that may not.happen

I did triple p years ago prior to being referred to camhs for my sons asd assessment. It was great for his brothers but didn’t really work for him, I did stepping stones too I’d recommend it if you can get on a course

I know this is resurrecting an old thread, but would it be useful for a non-resident parent who is struggling with challenging teenage behaviour and a challenging ex?

Our problem isn't so much the kids, or even the mother (although she doesn't make anything easy) it's that with less than 2 days every fortnight with the kids it's very hard to learn about parenting from actually doing it. And if you don't know what you're doing with teens (or at least our teens) you just end up sinking.

I have done the triple p stepping stones for children with disabilities/special needs now

The content of it wasn't anything amazingly new.

But I enjoyed going. In my case, I felt good that someone wanted to actually do something and it felt like someone was actually listening.

The people running the course were lovely. Which I think helped.

It was really good being in a group. You felt like you weren't the only one. And you were in a group with other people in the same situation. That bit was really good.

My one was for primary age children.

Did it still have the ancient videos? My group found them a bit of a distraction!

purpleme12 · 15/07/2024 21:42

Yes we did have the ancient videos!!
They did warn us they were very old videos and that they're apparently making up to date ones!

That’s what they said when I did the course about 6 years ago!
