When does CBeebies stuff become babyish?

Just wondering because DD is nearly 5 and she still likes a lot of the shows she liked when she was 1! Hasn't outgrown Hey Duggee etc yet. I would say the only programme she doesn't like anymore because it's babyish is Teletubbies. What sort of age do they move on? And in fact what do they actually move on to? I can't imagine not being in the world of preschooler TV!

My daughter outgrew it when she turned 4. She’s been 4 for a few months and whenever I turn it on she asks me to turn it off and put YouTube kids on.I think it’s mostly to do with control as she likes to be in charge of picking what videos we watch next.

My 6 year old still likes CBeebies but has moved onto some slightly older shows too - Dragons / Storybots / Bake off 😆

I’m 41 and still love Duggee

Six year old still picks a lot from it on the iplayer and nearly 9 year old will join her if it it Hey Duggee, Sarah and Duck or Bluey. It's hasn't bee watched as a channel on tv for about a year though. I still find myself singing 'what's on your plate' at lunchtime though!

I love the bbc kids stuff, I think its worth the licence fee on its own.

Sprogonthetyne · 11/11/2023 08:17

DS (7) stopped asking for stuff around 6, but if his younger sibling has bluey on, he'll still end up watching. Theirs a couple of bits on cbbc he'll watch (how to train your dragon spin off & pokemon), but if given free rain, he prefers YouTube (I know, not ideal), usually either people playing minecraft or making crafts.

However, TV time has actually dropped a lot since he was a preschooler. He's at school all day & has activities 3 times a week, so there's less time for it and when he does get screen time, he prefers to play his tablet (yet more minecraft).

Well I'm 39 and I watch Bluey so I'll let you know 😂

celticprincess · 11/11/2023 08:29

Mine would flit between CBeebies and milkshake around that time and also nick jnr. CBBC seemed a big jump for a while with their programmes containing real people and less animations. My teen however still loves a CBeebies panto.

Manthide · 11/11/2023 09:18

Must admit my elder two loved having younger siblings so they could watch cbeebies ( They were 10 and 11 when ds was born and 14 and 16 when dd3 was born). They loved Fifi and flowertots.

SirWalterElliot · 11/11/2023 09:35

6 yo still likes Go Jetters, Octonauts, Biff and Chip, Bluey etc. Watches a few bit of CBBC but definitely still more in Cbeebies territory.

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 11/11/2023 09:58

DD, nearly 6, is now mainly on whatever Netflix kids thing catches her eye (the Hotel Transylvania series atm) although I imagine she'd still watch Bluey, Sarah and Duck etc; she'd probably still watch most of it to be fair. Maybe not Teletubbies or The Baby Club. Although I can't stand Supertato, and I'm definitely not sad we no longer have Bing on the telly 😂

Alifestylechoice · 11/11/2023 10:05

I’d have said younger than most on here. My daughter went onto CBBC about 4 and now at 8 she barely even watches that anymore. She’s always preferred ‘real life’ programmes though so she watches a lot of that.

Coffeeismyfriend1 · 11/11/2023 13:07

DS is nearly 7, he still likes watching Hey Duggee, Bluey, Octonauts, Go Jetters, Nick Cope, Messi, among others. For me it’s great as DD is 2 so they can watch stuff together.

Year5For3days · 11/11/2023 13:36

9 year old still watches Hey Duggee, Bluey and other stuff on cbeebies.

But also loves Cbbc, I just go with the flow.

LittleBearPad · 11/11/2023 13:39

DH loves Duggie. (So do my tweens)

GrandHighPoohbah · 11/11/2023 13:46

We had a transition period of about a year where they watched things on both CBeebies and CBBC, until they gradually started choosing more CBBC. I guess one day we just never put CBeebies on again, but it wasn't at a set time, just a natural transition.

GrandHighPoohbah · 11/11/2023 13:47

I am still partial to the chap with the talking vegetables!

Baba197 · 13/11/2023 15:47

My nearly 6 ur old still loves Peter rabbit and bluey, think as they have sarcasm in and craziness (Nutkin!) they still appeal but he stopped all other CBeebies by 4
