Raising a noise complaint?

My neighbours moved in probably 18 months ago and since then itheyve been constantly renovating, and I’m at the end of my patience. I’ve been woken up every morning from either drilling or banging,

Theyve also never once come over and warned me or apologised. They once had a skip so full of stuff it started falling out and obstructing my driveway.

I just can’t cope anymore.

Have you tried talking to them?

Renovations so long as done during normal daytime hours 8am to 8pm would not be upheld as a noise nuisance. If they were drilling at night or all weekend it might, but otherwise you will be told to suck it up. Sorry.

Have you tried noise cancelling earphones?

To wear in my house constantly? What a lovely way to live.

Obviously it’s not ideal, but it is legal to do loud building work, providing that it doesn’t happen outside of certain hours. Eventually it will end! People need to maintain their houses.

You could try talking to them and asking them to be more careful with their skip, but ultimately the noise is something you have to live with. I have started sleeping in Loop Quiet earplugs - they’re very comfortable and I no longer get woken up by noise in the mornings.
