Please can someone help?

If a medication can cause blood clots and it's you are asked if clots run in your immediate family before prescribing.

Does a grandparent or uncle count as immediate family.

Uncle had a clot after breaking a leg and the cast was too tight.

Grandmother had a clot after an operation.

Otherwise no history.

Thank you

Are you not able to ask the person who is prescribing it for you? Or if an online pharmacy can you add the info to a comments field?

Tell them who it is, but usually it's first degree relatives we are interested in (parents, siblings, children). Also a provoked clot (eg after surgery or being in a cast as per your examples) is less significant than unprovoked. But just give them the information and let them make the decision.

Thanks android. That's helpful. I'll double check.
