Can I fix my down & feather coat after washing?

I've just bought a down coat and it needed washing so stupidly I put it on the washer. It's come out all clumped in little pockets and looks and feels awful.

I have no tumble dryer! Can I fix it at all any other way?

I hand-fluff mine. Is a ball ache but can be done.

Kind of pinching at the down through the coat outer and re-fluffing it that way.

Do you have an airing cupboard? Lie it flat in there and a couple of times a day give it a really good shake and put it back until it's fully dry.

You could rinse it and include a bald tennis ball or couple of laundry eggs for the spin. Normally you'd use them when tumble drying but it might work on the gentle spin cycle

Do you know anyone with a tumble drier? I find this is always the best option. They don’t need very long at all

I'd ask a friend if I could use their tumble drier for 20 minutes, and pop in a couple of drier balls. If not, just keep giving it a really good hard shake for 5 minutes, then rub the pockety bits between your palms and shake again

Ask a friend who has a tumble dryer or find a laundrette. Honestly the easiest way to fluff it all up again.

you need a tumble drier and a tennis ball - is there a launderette nearby?

Well I've borrowed a tumbler, washed the coat again and put 3 tennis balls in the tumbler but it's the same outcome. Clumped together and awful. I've tried pulling it away but it's not getting any better. Is it ruined?

I give mine several vigorous shakes, first holding on to the bottom hem, then holding onto the shoulders, then from one side and then the other. This really moves the down about and stops it clumping together. It does take time....
