How do you do it? Its currently 15 degrees in there, we cant afford to have the heating on all night - do we get a stand alone heater just for his room?
Thank you :)

How old is baby? I think stand alone heaters aren't recommended as they are a fire risk (check this though as I could be wrong). We have a very cold house and did lots of layers. Tights,.socks, sometimes leggings under PJ's. Jumpers etc. just loads of clothes.

Hi OP. We have been struggling with this too. I'd never leave a stand alone heater in the room overnight, as PP said that's not safe.

If it helps, we have been 'topping up' the temperature with a halogen heater whilst doing the bedtime routine, this takes the room up to a toasty 19/20 degrees. We then have the heating come on a timer at 2am.

We currently only have baby's radiator turned on, all others are off. We use the halogen heater downstairs in the living room whilst we're still up.

Baby is in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag (with a vest and sleep-suit) though I've recently discovered you can buy 3.5 tog sleeping bags, George sell them for £13 approx.

Hope this helps.

They ended up super snug and cosy!

We have a plug in oil heater on in toddler’s room as it can get very cold in there. It has a built in thermostat. I didn’t know it was a problem to have it on 😬 or do you mean the fan/halogen ones?

We have the same issue in our ds nursery. We have the heating on as he's starting bedtime routine for 2 hrs and I keep the blind and curtains shut from as soon as its getting darker and doors closed to trap heat. Then dh turns the heating on again about 3am for another 2 hrs. He's in a 2.5tog sleeping bag with long sleeved vest, leggings and I just wear the thicker pj tops on him. So far that seems to be OK for him. How old is your wee one? You should always put to sleep on their back and let them roll onto their tummy by themselves.

We used a small oil filled radiator that had a timer and thermostat- worked really well. We couldn't afford to keep heating on all night and this keep his room warm but not overheated.
