Does your partner take his phone calls with family outside?

Just that really. Does your partner do that?

Just wondering if it was normal or peculiar.

My husband used to do that a couple of years ago, and it turned out he was speaking ill of me behind my back. We got over it and I thought we had fixed it. Our relationship seems to be doing a lot better now. But he started doing it again.

Wondering if I was being paranoid and if I should relax?

thank you

I don't go outside but I usually go to another room, yeah. No real reason other than I hate listening to people have a conversation on the phone so I do it out of politeness

That's usually what we both do, we speak in a different room. But it's freezing cold outside right now, I told him to just take it in the bedroom and that I would close the living room door and put tv on to give him privacy, but he said he was more comfortable outside

DH goes to another room usually so he can hear

I do just feel uncomfortable chatting to someone on the phone when someone else is in the room not part of the conversation but just listening

menopausalmare · 08/11/2023 21:40

Whoever's on the phone goes to another part of the house for some quiet.

Thank you guys!

Not usually but there's have been some issues with his grandfather of late and his mum has been very upset, so for example we were all sat watching a film and she called I could hear she was upset on the phone, DH got up and gestured to the phone and took the call in the kitchen, it's not really for my benefit but so DS doesn't start asking questions we can't really answer at his age. I got the full run down later when DS was in bed

Yes, in summer. Sometimes he goes out for a walk and talks on his earbuds. It's to avoid disturbing the rest of the house (ours is small and fairly open plan), in winter we go through to the kitchen. I think its pretty normal to leave the room when you are on the phone. I don't mind other people hearing me most of the time but its annoying if you are trying to eg watch telly and someone starts talking on the phone.

And yes to when you need to talk about things you don't want the DCs to hear. Anything from worries about parents getting older to planned Christmas presents.
