Wondering if anyone might have some insight as to what's going on.

My mum (65) had a fall two weeks ago and hurt her knee. Was in quite a lot of pain for the first couple of days but didn't feel anything was broken, was still walking and driving and didn't want to go to a&e. After that the pain got better but didn't completely go away, no bruising or swelling. As it's been 2 weeks she made a GP appointment today, they had a look and sent her to a&e for an x-ray. Typical wait times so she has been there since 10am today, X-ray has come back normal, now they want to do a CT scan.

However she has just messaged me saying they have given her morphine? Surely this is a bit dramatic for a painful knee with a clear x-ray that has been walked on and driven with for the past 14 days? Or is morphine not as intense as I'm thinking?

I can't go in and see her and she's not very good at texting so wondering if there's something I'm missing. Also I assume she won't be home tonight? She drove there.

They simply won't give morphine without good cause. Sometimes not even then. Either she's wrong about what she's been given, or it's far more painful than she's saying.

That's what I thought, but even if she is now saying it's extremely painful would they still give it if they've found nothing wrong yet?

Morphine does seem dramatic on the face of it but I wonder if they had to manipulate her knee for x-ray and have exacerbated the injury?
