Report safety concerns kids party organisers

We recently hired a themed kids party organiser company for DCs birthday. It was an absolute shambles. Terrible. Guy was late, didn't know what he was doing, couldn't control the kids but worst of all he failed to give a safety briefing or ensure that the kids were using the correct equipment. In fact I don't even think he would have noticed if he'd lost a child tbh.
I'm obviously really annoyed that DC party was pretty much ruined (although tbf I do think the kids enjoyed it for the most part) but worse than that I'm concerned that someone could have been seriously hurt. 3 kids were hurt, luckily none seriously. Enough for tears. But that was 100% just luck. The accidents that happened absolutely could have been serious.
I feel like I should report this to some authority somewhere. Otherwise if I one day read about a terrible accident in the news I know I'll regret not doing anything. Who should I report it to though? I have no idea. It's a largish company that does parties across England. I have photo evidence to back it up.

What was the entertainer booked to do that 3 kids were injured?

MotherEarthisaTerf · 07/11/2023 11:50

Report to your local trading standards or HSE?

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 07/11/2023 12:01

What was the activity and age of the dc?
An 'entertainer I'd see as a singer/magician/mascot
I wouldn't see someone leading a physical activity as this sounds re a safety brief and potential for serious injury as an entertainer.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 07/11/2023 12:03

Ah apologies you said 'party organiser' not entertainer, but I still feel the same.
What was the adult:child ratio?

PuttingDownRoots · 07/11/2023 12:08

What was the activity?
I would expect behaviour management to be the responsibility of the host not the "entertainer" as such.

You can report to HSE online.

I’ve hired people in for parties before. I never expected to sit back and do nothing. They were only hired for the specific task and I was still in charge of the kids overall. So this depends on how things went exactly.

Smellyshelley · 07/11/2023 12:12

It wasn't really behaviour management that was lacking though, as the kids weren't really given any sort of briefing at all. The equipment that they were not meant to be using was for adults and only put out for "show" but this wasn't explained to them until 1 hurt themselves and I queried it.
And in case anyone is wondering, no I have no personal experience of this type of activity. If we'd had a safety briefing and organiser had said what was and wasn't allowed I would of course have stepped in to help.
1 organiser for 20 kids. Aged 8.

Think gymnastics party type event.

Why didn't you stop the children getting on the adult equipment?

Sorry. I'm having difficulty imagining the scenario.

Smellyshelley · 07/11/2023 12:22

It wasn't obvious the equipment was for adults. It wasn't a gymnastic party. If I say what it actually was it's potentially outing for me if any of the kids parents read it. But the equipment that was out was meant to set the "scene" but absolutely this wasn't obvious and it appeared that it was there to be used. I didn't stop the kids because I thought it was there to be used as well (we weren't told otherwise) and it was only when 1 child hurt themselves on it that we were told "oh yes that's not for use by children".

Also I specifically asked if we were required to help and was told no, not during the entertainment part of the party. Obviously the food part afterwards was down to us.

I still don't really understand, but you can complain to the company who sent him.
