Tips for pre diabetes

I have recently been diagnosed with pre - diabetes. Can anyone recommend where to find good recipes and advice? I’m finding my extensive Google searching is not finding what I’m looking for. I’ve signed up for the NHS course today, that starts in a month and I want to get into a new good routine as soon as possible.
Thanks!

Diabetes varies a bit from person to person as people's bodies react differently. Generally its carbs and sugar that make most people's blood sugars rise. So whilst jacket potato with baked beans is a healthy it will rise your blood sugars. I don't cut carbs out but I do have smaller portions of carbs and more of the veg or protein.

Having a quick walk after a meal can really help.

If you can afford it grab yourself a finger test kit and some test strips. It's good to get in the morning as that's almost like a summary of the day before, before a meal then 1 1/2 to 2 hours after a meal. Then you can see what meals work for you.

I'd really recommend the book the first year type 2 diabetes by Gretchen Becker and the diabetes uk have a great forum and website.

There's an app called Second Nature which covers all aspects of health and is aimed at preventing people developing type 2 diabetes by helping them through changes to their lifestyle. I can heartily recommend it.

Have a look at Jason Fung on youtube, he wrote a book called the diabetes code, which is very good. Also watch Gary Taubes on youtube, he wrote a facinating book called good calories, bad calories.

You could also have a look at The Glucose Goddess (Jessie Inchauspé) on Instagram, and her books. She gives lots of advice on how to keep your glucose levels steady, including having a savoury breakfast.
