Do I need some?

What is it used for? To mitigate leakages?

Where is the best place to buy them?

Bumping because I was musing on how I need to look into these the other day and if anyone is able to give recommendations I'm all ears 👂

I have Modibody, change them 2-3 times a day (heavy flow). Great for leaks, not having to change tampons/towels, and of course, the environment. Cheaper too in the long haul, though they need washing.

JamMakingWannaBe · 07/11/2023 19:36

Primark have them back in stock if you just fancy trying them out.
I use them in place of disposable sanitary towels but others use them in conjunction with a mooncup or tampon.

WeDeserveBetter · 07/11/2023 19:40

I use TCS eco pads, great company loads of choice will find a pad/pants to suit you and last FOREVER with no leaks

Not just for leaks, instead of tampons/towels.

You'll find all the info you need on the other threads you've mentioned exist! That's why you won't get many replies on here. All brands are about preference. I prefer modibodi but cheeky wipes are so much cheaper

APurpleSquirrel · 07/11/2023 20:56

Modibodi are very good, but expensive.
I prefer Love Luna by TU - but I use them as back up along with reusable pads from Honor Your Flow.
The Love Luna ones are good as they have a back panel that goes up to the waist - many don't, which isn't helpful if you flood/leak towards the back.

I'm primark and mooncup. It's just safer this way. I like them for nights. No leaks so far but I'm not convinced I'd go with just the pants. Maybe because they the Primark ones. Anyway I think they are great

BluebellsRoses · 07/11/2023 21:05

I have cheeky wipes ones and they work well and the price is really good.

I go for M&S size 12 knickers now (but often wear size 10 trousers), and think the Cheeky wipes size 12-14 knickers is much more comfortable for me than the size 10-12. (All the sizes are ranges.)

I use them because although I love a menstrual cup, you can't use it postpartum and it can cause me to feel a little sore even on normal period. If you get black period underwear then you just give them a really decent rinse and squeeze (several times, depending on how much blood is in there) and throw them in the wash. Doesn't matter if there are small stains because you won't see them.

BluebellsRoses · 07/11/2023 21:06

Also good if you go trampolining and your pelvic floor is not what it once was! 😂

notapizzaeater · 07/11/2023 21:14

I love the primark ones, and they are relatively cheap (about £16 for 3 pairs) and they just look like normal knickers

WrylyAmused · 07/11/2023 22:26

Use as back up to a mooncup.
Very heavy periods and flooding, but they're fine.

I've got the Love Luna from Tu from Sainsbury's ones, which are completely fine and don't leak at all, but they're quite old now, and I think they've improved the tech in them since I bought.

They're also very good for not leaking overnight in bed.

Second the pp who says go for black ones - mine still look good as new.

VelvetVoice · 08/11/2023 08:36

Thanks everyone

I need to buy for my daughter as she leaks all over the place and I hate the sight of ber stained underwear - she will use along with pads, the flow is just too heavy and I can’t trust her to change the mentrual knickers often

DD swears by the heavy flow M&S ones.

bge · 08/11/2023 12:59

I like the M&S ones as a back up to moon cups. I tried midi bodi and they were good for a while they they started ponging and I couldn't get the smell out. My M&S ones haven’t done that.

TabbyM · 08/11/2023 13:00

I am peri so use along with washable pads - M&S are good esp the heavy ones, Primark all come in mixed packs which is a bit annoying - their heavy goes all the way back but comes in a pack of 2 medium to 1 heavy. Luna ones are ok.

If you are in Scotland keep an eye out in libraries, museums etc as often mooncups or washable pads are available free!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 08/11/2023 13:15

Another one for M&S here. V good, instead of pads/tampons.

Pearbear · 08/11/2023 13:23

Modibodi user here with a washable pad. I have heavy flow so the pants are a back up to the pad. For nights the padding goes up to the waistband so no more leaks no. They are pricey but often have good deals on them, keep an eye on the website.

Terfosaurus · 08/11/2023 13:31

I have a really heavy flow. The M&S ones are OK on a lighter day for a few hours.
The ModiBodi heavy/overnight ones are amazing. I can do a whole day or a whole night without having to change them.

Fizbosshoes · 08/11/2023 13:35

I have got some M and S some WUKA and some cheeky wipes, although recently got the mirena coil which so far has made periods less heavy.

The WUKA ones are quite thick and size up small imo . I use at night sometimes, but I find a bit hot/claustrophobic (if that makes sense)
The M and S ones feel more comfortable

DD uses reusable pads at night but finds them to bulky to wear during the day

Mummymummy89 · 08/11/2023 13:39

I use the cheeky ones - on a heavy day I use them as back up from tampons, and on a light day on their own. On a very light day I use m+s "light flow".

My period lasts 8-10 days so I get about 4 very heavy days and then it reduces down to a dribble that feels like it'll never end.

I'm really happy with period pants, I now almost never use pads. I used to use pads for the endless dribble phase.

I now even get thrush less often than I used to (used to get it when wearing pads)

RainbowCrayons · 08/11/2023 13:48

I use the primark mixed pack too without anything else and I found they are even better than pads. I’ve used exclusively (except for swimming) since the summer and haven’t had a single leak. I found pads would move at night and I would leak around them even if the pad wasn’t full, pants don’t have that issue. I was between sizes in primark and am glad I went up rather than down.

YaraRocks · 08/11/2023 13:54

I have been using the modibodi ones for a couple of years now. They’re expensive but work very well I think. I use them instead of pads or tampons exclusively. I wear the heavy duty ones overnight and I’ve never suffered a leak even on my heaviest days.

I recently brought my young teen daughter the M&S ones when they had 20% off. She wears them to school all day, no leaks at all. She uses pads with them at night as they’re not as thick I as the modibodi ones so didn’t want to take the risk.
