Migraine type headache

Am post menopause but every so often get a migraine type intense headache which completely floors me for a day or so. I often feel sick with it and just end up in bed for the day. I currently just take over the counter painkillers which don’t help a great deal. Any advice? Should I see me GP? It only happens once every couple of months but is horrible when it does.

I take dispersible aspirin which works well, but I'd go to the GP if you can't find something OTC that works. It's worth it, there's lots out there.

Yes it’s worth speaking to gp, they could prescribe sumatriptan or something which may help better than otc painkillers.

I take 1g paracetamol, 900mg dispersible aspirin, can of full sugar coke at the first sign and that usually heads it off

This and if not, boots sell a migraine tablet over the counter - it works but sends me to bed for a few hours instead of all day. I suffered every month until I got a coil and it disrupted my cycle but as I progressed into menopause they increased
