Calming, funny or light hearted book recommendations for someone with poor mental health.

I’m currently struggling with my mental health.

My therapist has recommended that I start reading again. I used to be an avid reader but that dwindled down to hardly anything when my MH started going downhill and I’ve not picked up a boom since.
She believes this will be better for me in the evenings rather than aimlessly scrolling through the internet (will need to overcome my MN addiction 😳), which is obviously sound advice.

I currently can’t deal with anything too taxing on the brain, too emotional or upsetting so looking for suggestions on anything light hearted, funny, easy going and easy reading etc.

Pete McCarthy - McCarthy’s bar, lovely very funny travelogue around ireland
Bill Bryson - a walk in the woods
Elizabeth Gilbert - eat love pray (it is very funny in parts and life affirming)
Bridget Jones (I also really liked her Olivia Joules book)
The best Jilly Cooper bonkbusters - Riders , Rivals (rivals = the best of the lot), Polo, Pandora
The Cazalet chronicles - gentle between the wars family drama
Good omens - Terry pratchet and Neil gaimen (discworld passes me by, but this is funny)
The best Marion Keyes - the other side of the story, Rachel’s holiday, the one that’s about Anna (can’t remember the name)
The Philip Pullman trilogy - very transporting
Maeve Binchy - circle of friends - the rest of her books are shite (IMO) but there is something about the central characters in this one

for factual I would really recommend Bill Bryson’s a short history of nearly everything. I re-read it every 2 years or so and the sense of wonder never fades

For self help - this is genuinely wise and really easy to dip in and out of
Everything that I’ve ever done that worked - Lesley gardener
