Need to sort my life/ try not to judge

So last weekend I posted about my house being a shit hole. Everyone was so lovely and supportive I gpt loads done thank you to everyone. I still have stuff to do but ots not to bad . I bane decided that I'm just gpung to kind of slap dash and keep it ticking over. Then every other weekend when my youngest go to their fathers I'm going to have a proper deep deep tidy up.

Anyway I'm trying to sort my life out a bit. Be more organised so I can manage better. One of the really bad thing I do is . Have at least 4 take aways a week. This is costing alot of money leaving me short of money. I also keep allowing meat to go off. I know the answer it to freeze it but I don't. And even if I do. I then end io with take away because I did not take meat out of the freezer.

So today I did manage to save some meat the chicken said use by 4th but it smelt and looked OK. So I made a basic chicken curry. And also had nandos rub so done that as well. Mince beef went off on 3rd but that was also OK so I made spag bol and chilli.

So I'm looking for ideas of things I could cook and freeze. Also is there any tips on how to store /freeze and generally anything that comes to mind that could be helpful.

Pasta freezes better if it is already mixed with a tomato based sauce. It’s not as good as freshly cooked but if it being complete is the difference between deciding to get a takeout instead of eating a homemade meal - go for it.

How about a sausage and bean casserole? Freezes well and a complete meal.

Do you ever have jacket spuds for dinner? Always an easy winner for me. Eggs?

All the best.

I'm dreadful at estimating the amount of pasta to cook so often have leftover, cooked plain pasta. I put it in the fridge in a lidded tub (or a zip lock bag would do) then just put it in boiling water for a couple of minutes the next day and mix with pesto or a defrosted sauce.

Why not use scales to measure pasta quantities? No need to estimate.

It's not due to left overs it so I can cook extra then fridge/freeze so I don't have to cook at all I can just microwave

Yes but it's just bizarre. It's the same effort to add dried pasta to boiling water as it is to cook from frozen.

I wouldn't worry about forgetting things. I have recipes I've cooked 10s of times, but I still feel more comfortable with the recipe on hand, so I favourite them on my phone for easy access.

I did try it but no one really liked them the portions are really small as well .

I think part of weaning yourself of takeaways is getting used to healthy portion sizes. Ready meals tend to be healthy sized in terms of calories (if not content because they are processed etc), whereas takeaways are huge in portion sizes and not very healthy.

That's not the point for me though. Not the point of my post at all.

Because I can't be bothered to and its no hassle to have extra, cooked pasta in the fridge. Feel free to portion your own in whatever manner you choose, I was simply letting the OP know that pasta in the fridge for a day or two is perfectly fine.
