flytipping

i'm not sure if mumsnet can help but i thought i'd give it a try.
flytipping often occurs at side of my house which i report to council and it is then removed.
today, 3 samsung smart tvs boxes & packing have been left, all with barcodes.
does anyone know if i can trace who purchased these?

The barcode for Cadburys roses are the same on the tins in Asda as on the tins in Tesco, likewise a bush TV in Asda has the same barcode as a bush tv in Tesco.

I’m assuming it’s the same for most things tbh.

Very very unlikely.

The only way would be if it was a retailer exclusive model and they happened to be able to track who has bought/nicked three identical models all at once.

As well as reporting the fly tipping to the council, perhaps call the police non urgent number and let them know you think people are dumping packaging from stolen goods?

Having "nature cams" nearby to film interesting birds etc in the area might coincidentally film perpetrators... Just saying...

No because even if the company had their details they're not going to tell you, and also it doesn't mean they fly tipped them.

Fly tipping is a massive problem in my area, especially since the council charge a lot of money for bulky waste collections, but all you can do really is put a camera up.

I doubt that the barcodes on the box will be of any use. I'd put up decent cameras and then when you report to the council you can hopefully provide video/photo evidence.
