Isn't this the next Pocket inequality?

Warm clothes generally! Pyjamas specifically. I've just been pj shopping in Next and came out with mens bottoms which are a thick warm fabric, plus a black thermo top. Super warm. Gorgeous.

The womens department on the other hand, served up the thinnest, cheapest (ugliest) utter crap material that wouldn't insulate you in a tropical climate.

In the men's department, I also saw furry lined hoodies. The women's department had short sleeved Christmas themed t shirts.

MEN RUN HOT, WOMEN RUN COLD! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

I buy mens whenever I can. Usually womens jeans and underwear and the rest mens. Women's clothes are poorly designed and poor quality.

Wendysfriend · 04/11/2023 19:24

I agree. Not long ago I had to go into hospital for a short stay, I went to many shops for nightwear, I don't use dressing gowns or PJ's here so badly needed some. I ended up buying men's because everything for women looked like it was for a bedroom photo shoot. There was nothing sensible or warm, but plenty for men.

LadyBird1973 · 04/11/2023 19:26

Yes. Was looking at hoodies for dd the other day. The men's had proper shaped and stitched shoulders, pockets and a proper thick, defined shape. Same brand in the women's we're not so well made, sticking was less neat and it had shapeless shoulders.

How can this be happening? Women even buy more clothes than men, arguably care more about clothes. Why do ours have to be poor quality. No wonder there are such arguments about heating as well.

In Primark they have pyjamas and other nightwear of every ilk, from thin to warm. My Primark fleece jamas are 10 years old and still wash like new.

Doggymummar · 05/11/2023 12:54

I got some gorgeous once delivered TODAY FROM Amazon super thick tartan.

ladeluge · 05/11/2023 12:59

I sent an email to a few stores asking why women's casual wear - gilets, jackets etc. do not have inside and zipped pockets like men have, and why many items don't have proper pockets, you could only put a key in some of them! So far just got a thank you for your interest reply stating they will speak to their buyers bullshit.

I buy most of my "knocking around the house", walking and cold weather stuff in the men's now. Great quality, great for my long Simian arms, and inside and zipped pockets all the way.

This is why I make my own pyjamas , @NutellaEllaElla 😁

Yeah maybe I'll have to tear myself away from making dresses and specialise in warm wear!

I don't know about men running hotter than women, I'm always in less clothes than dp, at night I overheat terribly (I don't like nightclothes consequently)

DojaPhat · 05/11/2023 13:22

I don't think it's necessarily the "next" inequality between the sexes, twas always thus - shopping in the men's department was truly a revelation. Even things as simple as water bottles, who decided women wanted pink and plastic reusable water bottles! Having said that, I will never not chuckle at the description "has pockets" in an ad for women's jackets, jeans and the like! What a masterful invention, who would have thought!!

I needed some black trousers recently and tried on endless pairs in the shops. None of them fit properly (not a sizing issue, it was the fit that was off as if they were cut strangely, every pair, various different shapes). In desperation I tried on a pair of my teenage son’s suit trousers. He is 15 and they are a little too big around the waist for him. They fitted me like a glove. I don’t understand how a pair of trousers for a small man can fit a size 12, curvy woman so well when clothing apparently cut for woman’s shape doesn’t. I came to the conclusion that men’s clothes have proper tailoring, are better cut, and made from better quality fabric. Which is not ok really.

RockGirl · 05/11/2023 13:55

I don't wear pyjamas I like nighties, but Popsy have pyjamas with pockets if that is what you are after.

Newestname002 · 05/11/2023 14:00

I've been buying men's casual clothes for years. They are usually better made from better fabric, longer in the leg, arms and body and often less expensive. I used to buy men's chino style trousers too; they just don't fit right around the waist for me. 🌹

Also the pockets are deeper and better made.

And why are women's pj trousers mostly in knitted jersey? I sleep curled up and my pjs have constantly baggy knees.

I'm in mens pjs at the moment.

littleripper · 05/11/2023 14:29

Chelsea peers put pockets in the mens, not the woman's. I wrote and complained and they confirmed I was not alone!
Why thou? Why do it in the first place

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/11/2023 14:30

I wear men's flannel pj bottoms and a long sleeved henley top for the winter, in a variety of 'manly' colours (navy, grey, burgundy, tartan). I'm not particularly long legged but I like the length of the men's bottoms to cover my feet.

In the summer I overheat like mad so I wear women's pj bottoms and a plain t-shirt. All of which are in girly prints and colours.
