Can anyone recommend anywhere cool for a 10 year old to eat in London?

We are coming to London in December to watch the panto. We visit every year but usually only come down for the day (we are about 2 hours away by train) so usually have a quick meal but this year we’re treating ourselves and staying for 2 days!

It will be me, ds (10) and my mum. My mum really wants to go for an afternoon tea and I’ve seen some really good child friendly ones such as the Charlie and the chocolate factory experience but they work out about £76/80 each 😳. Which is too much, we were thinking more about £40/50 each.

I looked at the rain forest cafe but I think it’s closed down??

we’ll be staying near Victoria station, the panto (palladium) is on the last day so we’ll head to the train afterwards so we’ll need it to be on the Sunday or the Monday.

nothing like Chinese etc but something cool/ a bit different either food wise or the venue?

thanks!

I was just about to say my DS loves the wahaca on the south bank, it's made from shipping containers, and he feels grown up sharing the small plates with everyone else (spice levels are clear and staff are helpful if he's not keen on spicy, my DS takes after me so is a bit of a chilli fiend). He also likes Mowgli for the novelty swing seats. Also agree with my old Dutch, I've not taken DS there yet, I'm not sure why!

Yes @UndercoverCop and the people watching on the South Bank is great - years ago I took DC 9 and 11 there and they loved it.

Sadly the cutter & squidge afternoon tea isn’t wizardy any more, I think it’s now school themed (?!)

Thank You so much for all the replies, I’ve been on a week of nights so haven’t been in the land of the living! I’ll have a look through them all now, really grateful!
