Harry Potter for adult

Harrypotter99 · 04/11/2023 12:21

I'm looking for help with Harry Potter gifts that could be more aimed at an adult? Ds is 21 and said he wants Harry putter stuff for Xmas but I don't know what to get him. I was thinking maybe things for his home. But hard to find ?

My adult dd wanted friends stuff that's easy to find. But Harry Potter seems harder.

Go on asda george website and type in Harry Potter.

They do bedding, bowls, mugs, etc

Primark often do lots of Harry Potter stuff too.

What does he like/want, except for Harry Potter? No point in getting him a scarf in Hogwarts-style if he never wears scarves, etc.

T-shirt with a related print, maybe?

I don't think he would want to wear stuff out . Although socks is possibly ok. Dressing gown slippers for at home. But I think he would like nice bits to put on his flat

You are going to find it much easier if you ask him what house he's in. Some places sell 'hogwarts' stuff but most merchandise is divided up into one of the four houses from the books.

The illustrated editions of the books would be nice - they're all beautiful to read but also look stunning on a shelf. I got my sister some for her new place and they look so good! I picked the Mina Lima ones, they're fabulous.

There's an online Harry Potter shop - if you look in the homeware section there's loads of choices.

Op honestly just ask him to send you a link of stuff he wants- he's not a child anymore.

That way you'll prevent the disappointment especially if you are not familiar with HP at all.

You can always get him some HP bits and pieces , but for the main present I would just ask.
But it's only my opinion.;)

Or you can gift him tickets for the studio tour in London? That’s what I’m giving my daughter for Xmas, we go in a couple of weeks.

PuttingDownRoots · 04/11/2023 15:00

Gryffindor stuff is scarlet and yellow/gold if that helps you.

Bernadinetta · 04/11/2023 15:01

Gryffindor, OP. That’s the same House as Harry himself, the colours are dark red (Scarlett) and gold.

filthypride · 04/11/2023 16:17

I just bought my son from Tesco for his birthday
'Dobby is a free elf' socks and mug. He loved them.

shardash · 04/11/2023 17:26

There's a Harry Potter Lego advent calendar, how about that to start with?

SpacePotato · 04/11/2023 21:29

Get him lego dobby. Looks cute on display and fun to build.

The owl is nice too and it's wings flap when you turn the handle.

The wall art that was suggested by another poster earlier is nice too.

Most HP fans will have a house they relate to, even adults. Think about the houses your DCs were in at school. In Harry Potter the houses kind of associate with the individuals personality, that’s how children are placed in them. My DCs have very specific houses they have related to so anything we buy HP related are in their colours. Kind of like having football teams and their colours.

If he still likes Lego, any HP Lego would be good. Lots of adults still love Lego, we have a number of sets, officially they are for our DCs but DH & I (late 40s) love them.

You could get art work, kitchenware, clothes, you will probably find lots of HP Christmas jumpers, cosy socks in the run up to Christmas. HP has a lot of confectionery which you will find in lots of places.

Boots do HP themed gifts.

I would try and find out what he has and if he has a specific house, just ask him, what’s your house so I can get you something you want.

I echo the studio idea for tickets or look for other Harry Potter experiences.

GingeNinga · 04/11/2023 23:12

You’re welcome, glad you managed to find some things.

I want one of those.com is another website that tends to do stuff like that - iwoot.com

xyz111 · 04/11/2023 23:24

Lego do lots of HP stuff

Himawarigirl · 12/11/2024 08:29

Also look on Etsy, put Gryffindor into the search and see what comes up.

mumonthehill · 12/11/2024 08:38

Amazon have a great assortment of HP lights including a lovely Hedwig one which would look good in a flat.
