Is a London trip safe currently?

maybe a silly question but I see the protest marches and wondered if they are planned so you can avoid them?

We have a city break at the start of December… and beginning to get a bit concerned…

I'd wonder what was happening if there WASN'T a protest march going on somewhere in London, frankly.

If you are going on the 11th, I wouldn't be going to Whitehall anyway as it will be full of Remembrance parade.

So if you weren't going there, what is the problem?

For info:

Saturday the 11th: Remembrance Day (a.k.a. Armistice Day): there's at least one relatively smallish scale commemorative event planned on Whitehall for that day (Western Front Association)..I think the War Widows Association also have something planned for that day but not sure where.

Sunday the 12th: Remembrance Sunday.. that's the day of the big parade with all the VIPS and all the associated security.

8.5 million people live in 32 London boroughs spanning 608 square miles. The bit around the Houses of Parliament, Whitehall and West End are tiny compared to the rest of London. I've lived here for 26 years and I tend to steer clear of places that are the current hotspots for trouble or road closures. Take a tube to bypass the crowds. There's whole neighbourhoods that don't attract protests, so go there instead. 🤷‍♀️

My family are in the Midlands and during the IS attacks every time London was bombed I got 20 phone calls asking if I was alright. Of course! I'm at home watching the same news as you are!

The first DM knew about the 1981 riots in Brixton (one and a half miles away from her house) was DB ringing from Australia to find out if she was OK. She was obliviously watching Coronation St.

9 million people live in London you know. We're not all cowering under the sofa. I've never seen a protest after a decade being here and unless you're actively trying to get in the middle of it, you're not in danger of being hurt. Come on by!

Reminds me of my Grandad and extended fam muttering 'I can't believe you still live in London' when I back to the village... They're all flabbergasted I choose to remain in the 'Warzone'.
