Any recommendations for a nightlight/alarm clock?

14yo DS doesn't like the dark, we have a small nightlight but it's not really working.

Looking for a new nightlight - perhaps one that is on an alarm clock as that would make it easier due to location of plugs in the room!

I'm thinking something like a groclock, but a bit more grown up!

Thanks!

My daughter had an alarm clock (from Amazon) that projected the time onto the wall. You could adjust the brightness. Might just give enough glow so it's not dark and doesn't look like a nightlight, just a clock.

There are lots on Amazon.

Adding to my post above..

My 8yo has a nightlight very similar to this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/ONEWAY-Nursery-Rechargeable-Silicone-Dimmable/dp/B0BRMJ82FY

It has a remote and a timer so it wouldn't have to be on all night. Obviously the cat might not be what your DS wants but I'm sure there must be all sorts of similar things.

Another idea would be to get some sort of light up sign. Again, wouldn't look like a nightlight but would light up the room. Would be on all night unless you put a timer plug on it though.

What about a Lumie light?
The top end is pricer but they have some cheaper options like www.lumie.com/products/sunrise-alarm

It feels quite grown up so no questions asked from friends and can be used as a dimmable bedside light - letting him pick how bright he'd like it to be.

Or potentially just a dimmable bedside lamp. Ikea have some good ones: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/taernaby-table-lamp-dimmable-anthracite-20323891/#content

Cheap, grown up, bed side lamp so no questions asked and he can control how dim or bright.

That's where I started looking but there was so much choice I wasn't sure where to start!

Edited

He loves cats so might actually like this! Might be a bit young for him I guess but it's very cute!

I have a lumie myself but it auto turns off the light after an hour so I wasn't sure if you could get one that acts as a nightlight and stays on?

I like the look of the Ikea one though, it looks as though there can be a lot of variation in brightness which would be good. Thank you!

I have this one for my baby. It's touch control, easily dimmable, and does different colours. It can stay on the charging base or be taken off and used from battery

Thanks @december2020 I'd been thinking about buying an alarm clock to stop me spending too long in bed scrolling on my phone, and the Lumie one is perfect. Got it for £37 on Amazon in the Lumie shop - I'll be leaving my phone downstairs!

HelterSkelter224 · 02/11/2023 19:40

We have a hatch which is great, it can be programmed with an app on your phone so you can programme it to act as an alarm clock

A smart bulb in a lamp or the ceiling fitting will work.

I have one that I've set up to use as a 'wake-up' light after my Lumie alarm clock broke but it has loads of possible settings and can be left on as a nightlight.

I got the Philips Wiz, colour version, which cost around £15 and use the related app to control it from my phone. It's also possible to use voice control with Alexa etc.
