Guilty about taking annual leave

I've only been at my job for two-ish months and I'm already feeling exhausted by it so I've booked a week off. I feel bad about feeling tired already as its so early on but I've not had a break. I've just completed 4 years at uni and when I finished my final semester in May this year, I've worked over summer up until the weekend before starting my new job.

Just wanted to vent,
Thank you.

If you have enough leave to take, there's nothing at all to feel guilty about.

Do you feel guilty about taking your salary?

Annual leave is there for good reason. You don't have to justify yourself in taking it. Just take it. And enjoy it!

Thank you both, I think I needed a bit of reassurance

Why do you feel guilty?

Two months in a new job is more tiring than the same period in a known job, because everything and everyone is new.

Why do you feel guilty?

If you've followed the policy for requesting it and it's been granted then enjoy it.

I think it is understandable to be tired in a new job, especially after 4 years at uni. It is emotionally draining in new jobs.
You are doing the right thing by having a break, make sure you use it to recharge.

Now's a good time to take leave usually, post summer season and pre the Christmas one. Try to be available over the popular Xmas break and you'll be appreciated.

That's what a/l is for, so you can have a break from work. Take your leave and enjoy it! Going from studying to working is a big change and it sounds like you haven't had much of a break between studying then working and now your new job.

Thank you, you're all right. I am really looking forward to getting some rest :)
