We took our 2 year old out Trick Or Treating tonight and he has ended up with so much more than I expected!! 🤗
The big chocolate bar is from my parents but everything else is from other houses!!

I would take a few bits to keep for his Christmas stocking. He got quite the haul there. I said to quite a few trick or treaters that I hoped they would share some with their family, hopefully your little lad will.

Bloody loads - im annoyed to be honest! Although our estate does go mad and some kind people did give bubbles and pencils. They have enough to keep them going until Easter.

ShutTheDoorBabe · 01/11/2023 00:03

Loads and loads. One dc will happily save them and have a few a day until they're all gone; the other will want to eat them all in one go and we'll have to be constantly told not to eat them all, to save them, to remember about his teeth etc etc.

Why are you annoyed? Who took him out against your will?

SleepingStandingUp · 01/11/2023 00:07

Tons. Impressed that some people gave out little prepacked things of sweets! We also came home with a 10p each for the preschoolers and a penny 🤣. He loved his penny very much.

It's all put together and will be dished out slowly. I've taken the chocolate out and those will go in lunch boxes if there's any left by Monday.

Condo · 01/11/2023 00:09

I don’t mean really annoyed it’s just that because I think due to the weather there wasn’t as many trick or treaters the houses they went too said take loads - therefore they have doubled what have previously been given! Plus mine are tweens so go out in a group so I don’t have the control so to speak

Paul2023 · 01/11/2023 00:09

Nice healthy tangerine I can see in there OP! Not all sweeties ! I wonder if they ran out of sweets there !

Onthelastdayofseptember · 01/11/2023 00:20

30 each, carefully counted by dc (annoying as now I can't sneak any for myself!).

At 2 your dc won't remember how many he's got, so just take half away and use for treats as and when.

purpleme12 · 01/11/2023 00:20

107 I believe!

Cattenberg · 01/11/2023 00:22

Plenty, but not that many.

Last year, it took DD nearly a year to eat them all. She was four then.

HaveALaff · 01/11/2023 00:27

I gave out sweets, I didn't collect. Though I suspect the kid who poured half the bowl into his bag has hundreds of treats! 😂

We fell lucky, actually dry all day!! Meh, just means you don't need to buy snacks for a month 😁

SleepingStandingUp · 01/11/2023 00:32

Someone was giving out home made cakes and biscuits. I did wonder if that's a good idea but all three kids wouldn't have given them over for love, money or candy. They were their mid trek snack

LuluBlakey1 · 01/11/2023 00:32

Lots but DH has put some away when they went to bed. They won't remember them all tomorrow- they were too tired.

From a purely teeth point of view, probably the best thing to do is eat absolutely everything all in one go — as long as you don't puke.

PuttingDownRoots · 01/11/2023 00:47

Far too many. 10 and 12yos both went out with friends. (That is considered a suitable age here!). The sensible 12yo came back with about 20 things. I think the 10yo has about 50.

I was out supervising a party and so our sweets weren't given out, so I have 60 of those left too...

Yea maybe. He didn't get as many as dc2, who is good with things like this and will most likely still be eating them by Christmas, so I could possibly just let him eat them all. He's having a brace fitted soon so I don't think he'll be able to have many sweets after that

coxesorangepippin · 01/11/2023 02:01

That's quite a haul

Girasoli · 01/11/2023 06:13

Absolutely lots, we have lots left over that we bought for the trick or treaters too. DH and I will both bring some in to work and we are also going to drop by my brothers house and give him lots of sweets.

Birdh0use · 01/11/2023 06:22

25 and 26 each. Cue massive complaints: it's not fair.....

That's okay, the additional one gets donated to you!

Mine had 10 and 11 each, I only let them do our road and the neighbouring road and they had to donate one each to their big brother who couldn't go.

They enjoyed giving out the sweets just as much as getting them.

CyberCritical · 01/11/2023 06:53

Lots and one bloke ran out of sweets so was emptying his wallet, didn't realise till we got home that DD was given £20, now I'm trying to remember which house as feel I should give it back.

They don't have to go to so many houses, that's on you

ClinkyWotsit · 01/11/2023 07:13

2 big handfuls. We walked down a couple of roads after nursery, DD was told to only take one item but she’s 3 so we unsurprisingly have more items than houses visited. She will get to keep her haul though, however long it takes to plough though, as I recently read an article on building children’s autonomy which basically said don’t take their sweets so we’ll just limit the daily ration.

We live in Germany and doing Halloween here has just been taking off the last few years. I'm Scottish so very happy my DC will be able to do this tradition as I loved it when I was a kid.
We took ds1 (3 years old) out at 7pm (we planned earlier but got back from pumpkin carving too late). We were late for German standards and hardly anyone was out anymore. There's also a system here, whoever has a jack-o'-lantern outside, you can knock. There weren't many left but he knocked on 5 houses and got 6 sweeties in total (one house gave him two). Bless him, he was so ridiculously happy with this and was just excited to be up past his bed time 😆and outside in the dark.
