Trick or Treaters - Dressed in all black!

It's been a stressful drive home this evening. There was loads of trick or treaters on one stretch of my journey.. All in black and seemingly trying to launch themselves in front of cars (obviously they weren't but that's what it felt like!)

I put my full beam on just to make sure I could make sure to see them but I wish they had some lights or something!

It just worried me that younger older children (if that makes sense) going out on their own for the first time might not pay enough attention to the road in their excitement.

I always come home at a similar time and have never noticed in previous years. I'm unsure if it's just because there seem to be more trick or treaters.

It's all the early teens dressed in black with a shite mask trying their luck.

Well if parents are letting kids out all in black in the dark on a road that yiu think they are flinging themselves at you something is very wrong.

It's more that they didn't seem to be paying attention to what was going on around them. I tend to take this road quite slowly anyway as there's a lot of hidden entrances but it's used as a cut through on Google maps etc, it's a 30 but people like to bomb it.

I'm probably thinking too much, and they were paying more attention than I give them credit for

My son and his friends are atrocious for this. If they see a pumpkin on the other side of the street, they dart across without looking. They are 8 so they are supervised, but honestly they need to be on reins or something.

Ha! I bet they weren't.

YANBU OP. I had similar issues coming through a housing estate on the way back from DCs' extracurricular, although they were a mix of younger teens through to families with preschool age DCs for us. All in black, no lights or torches, and launching themselves into the road without thinking. One man shepherded a group of small kids straight out in front of me without a glance. It is a 20mph zone and I was doing well under that (after having to take evasive action due to happening across some teens dressed in black sitting in the road around a blind bend), but it is mostly unlit by streetlights so visibility was poor. Add in the balaclava-ed older teens on off-road motorbikes without headlights, and it made for a very stressful drive! It's a pretty nice estate usually, so no idea where all the craziness came from!

I was feeling like a Halloween Scrooge so glad to read this. I'm glad they're enjoying themselves but there doesn't seem to be a sense of danger. All it takes is one person not paying attention. Not saying it would their fault if they were hit by a car or anything but making yourself visible is sensible.
