Does anyone know how bad this is? Facebook scam

Hello

Ridiculous subject line sorry. I think I’ve just narrowly avoided being a (full) victim of a Facebook marketplace scammer. I grew suspicious when the online payment wasn’t straightforward and although I clicked an emailed link I didn’t enter any login details or continue arranging any payment from or to myself. However, I’m aware this scammer now has my email address, first line of my address (could easily gain my postcode) and my account number and sort code, plus my full name. Does anyone know how worried I should be about them having all this info and not hat if anything I can or should now do?

Someone tried this with me a few days ago. I didn't click the link so don't know but you're not alone!

Phone your bank and let them know ASAP - they might need additional authentication from you if you do make any large-ish or out of character purchases in the near to intermediate future, but the hassle of that is better than being scammed.

Inform your bank and action fraud. Otherwise all you can do is watch your accounts and Experian credit report like a hawk for the next few months to a year.

I did just manage to speak to my bank (6 month old doesn’t make it easy)and they gave similar advice. They said because the scam was not to gather that data or identity fraud hopefully they’ll not make use of what I gave them. It’s so depressing how thorough these people are now. This ‘buyer’ was making out she was worried etc 🙄😓 I’m too sleep deprived for this rubbish 🤦‍♀️

I've stopped buying anything second hand online now. It's new from big brands or second hand from charity shops, scammers have ruined it now.

@SeventhIdiot what do actionfraud do? It seems to be a known scam so just wondering if it’s still worth reporting it.

Always worth reporting, there is also a government phishing report email too. https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing

Ok I’ve done that. I’ve also signed up to MSE credit club in order to be able to check my credit report, but does anyone know what in particular I should be keeping an eye out for on there?
