If you continued to feed your toddler till your second baba was born did it make things easier to feed your second?

Interested to know 😊

Yep. No waiting for my milk to come in second time around. Though I did wonder if I actually produced colostrum for the second?

Sprogonthetyne · 30/10/2023 12:16

I did stop in between, but not for long and I don't think my milk ever died up. Second baby was a dream to feed, we totally bypassed the difficult to start with phase I'd had with first.

Labradoodlie · 30/10/2023 12:17

Exactly the same as @Sprogonthetyne said. I had no horrid bleeding chaffed nipples second time around, as they were already used to feeding.

I stopped by about 16 weeks pregnant, as I didn't really want to combine the laxative effects of colostrum and toddler bowels. Second baby took to it straight away and establishing feeding was easier, although I think that had more to do with the baby's personality and my greater experience than having fed during pregnancy. I still got a bit sore in the first few weeks.

Yeah, I tandem fed toddler and newborn.
Milk came straight in, newborn gained weight straight away, took to it very easily. No sore nipples either!
Went really well in my experience

I really hated tandem feeding. I got physical aversion to it.

Organaforever · 30/10/2023 13:06

Surprisingly not easier here, but we did have tongue tie issues the second time round. I remember the first week or so with DC2 being very painful. Slight gap in between feeding DCs as my milk dried up during the pregnancy.

Loverofoxbowlakes · 30/10/2023 13:07

It took 2 years before I completely dried up', much to my (now ex) dh's disgust.

Thank you for all your experiences 😊. Really helped and eased my mind. I'm determined to either breastfeed or pump. But planning on trying to do both at the start so dad can do nights. X
