Would you leave sweet outside for trick or treaters?

I’m not going to be home on Tuesday night as I will be doing spooky family time with my sister so I was wondering whether to leave sweets outside. My main concern is the first trick or treaters could come along and steal all the sweets and I’d never know. I feel too rude not to do something though as I’ll have my lights and decs up. To anyone not at home on Tuesday, what will you do?

We leave a bowl out as go out t&t 5/6 then home 6/7 to answer the door as dd 6 loves doing both

I leave a note saying gone t&t and please take one

Also helps that we have cctv and large sticker on window saying this and never had Empty bowl on return

But do keep some inside to refill bowl just incase

Yes, lots of people do if they want to go out themselves. In my experience most wouldn't take them all at once, especially if parents notice.

I have a young toddler so I usually put them out while I'm doing bedtime, no one's ever taken the lot. Most kids are out with their parents anyway.

I think it depends a lot on your area. Around here it's more young kids accompanied by parents so plenty of people leave sweets outside without issue.

We do. I make up small bags so it's apparent how much to take.

I leave sweets out and kids take a few each, no one has taken them all. Teenagers are welcome to sweets where I am as well.

Where we live it's very normal for people to leave a pot outside with sweets if they aren't going to be home. By the number left towards the end of the night still, definitely people aren't nicking them all right away. But I suspect people here aren't twats. We also leave our house and cars unlocked nearly all the time too and never had any issues, so it's that sort of area. Parents walk around with their kids and expect them to behave.

No. I left out a plate of sweets one year and the entire lot was taken by one group. I haven't bothered since.
