UK SIM card advice for non resident

I'm from the UK and usually just buy a SIM card each time I visit. However, I'll be moving back in a couple of years with several trips back in the meantime and it would be nice to just get one permanent number. Anyone got any suggestions on how to do this given that it will be hard to use it to keep it active while I'm out of the country? There will four months between the first and second visit.

I have a similar dilemma, and I dunno what to do.

I've been in a similar boat, juggling visits back home with the need for a consistent number. It's a real hassle, right? I've tried the whole buy-a-SIM-every-time routine, but it gets old fast, especially when you're planning on moving back in the long run. Four months between visits? That's a tough one. Here's a thought: have you considered exploring eSIM cards? They're like magic beans for travelers - no physical cards, no fuss. I stumbled upon https://www.europesimcard.com.au/ recently, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer in my adventures. Give it a whirl and see if it solves your SIM dilemma.

SMARTY. No contract. Can use in the EU. Think you can freeze the plan too.

A friend of mine who is in a similar situation has a Tesco Mobile PAYG.

AFAIK no need for a minimum spend but the rate per minute isn't great. But at least she has been able to keep her number and since she makes few calls it's cheaper than signing up to a plan.

1p mobile any good?
