Hi
has anyone got any experience of this. They came in cheapest if anyone and initially it looked convenient that you don’t need a black box fitted- just an app on your phone.

But looking at the reviews I am a bit concerned as it’s only 1 star!

you seem to be penalised for driving short distances, driving with sat nav or music on, as well as driving on high accident roads, or after 5pm!

it seems that every time you get in any car you have to log onto the app say whether you are driving or someone else.

my idea was to insure my husband and myself with my son as the main driver to build up no claims. We would also both use the car for short journeys - mainly dropping off the other kids at activities.

Has anyone got any positives or negative feedback. We’ve looked everywhere to get best insurance quote but I wonder if it’s worth paying a bit more to get something with less hassle. We are getting the car next weekend so can’t yet practically see how the app works.

thanks!

My DD has Churchill Drivesure, absolutely no problems and she got it in August 2022 when passed at 17. Her renewal this year was £400 cheaper which I presume is because of her good driving scores as everyone else wanted alot more.
She does go onto the app to log if she in a different car and not driving but is a 2 minute job.

Thanks. That’s reassuring.

Took out Drivesure two weeks ago and signed up to app. Been getting driving scores for two weeks, but policy only comes in tomorrow. I'm 62, but it was £50 cheaper than the next best quote.
Have to keep your phone with you whilst travelling. You then have a few weeks to confirm if you were driving, or some other form of travel such as train.
I drove 4 miles then back this morning. On my return, I did everything text book, under speedlimit, virtually no braking or acceleration, slow round corners etc.
Score of 86/100. Seem impossible to get 100%.
Quite an easy process, but a bit frustrating on the scores.

I am a first time driver. I have been using the drive sure app since September 2023. I have had no issues the app so far. I have set the app to automatically record my journeys as I drive almost everywhere. I only go into the app when I need to tag the journey as a passenger other than that it’s all automatic. I’ve not been penalised for using the satnav or listening to music and I use these apps almost everyday. Maybe just an issue with the app. I also drive at all times of the day and night but have not had any issues with that either. I think it’s quite good for the price. Better than most other telematics in my opinion.

What stops someone leaving their phone at home and just driving anyway?

DD has just passed her test and we are looking to get her insured on small of our 2 cars.
from what I have read wife, DD and I will all need to download app and when I travel in any other vehicle then I need to notify in the app.
as i rarely drive the car, but am constantly in my own it seems that I will be constantly updating the app. Is this true?
