Are Childrens wards generally cleaner better run than adult wards?

From what you hear about on here and in other places NHS wards are thought of as a bit grotty with unattentive staff.
Ds 9 had a tooth operation today and they were really efficenct, friendly and the place was spotless with a play area/ waiting room with games consoles and toys.
Free tea, coffee and biscuits for parents too.

Yes for a few reasons.

A children's ward with, for example, 3 HCAs will seem much better staffed than an adult ward with 3 HCAs because the children will all (usually) have parents with them doing the usual parenting things. The HCAs on the adult ward will be toileting, changing inco pads, making drinks, helping people wash & dress etc. Same staffing but hugely different work loads.

Adult wards generally have a higher percentage of unfilled vacancies than children's wards too, so less likely to be short staffed.

They shouldn't be cleaner though. Every hospital ward should be clean.
