Mumsnetism?

I've lurked on Mumsnet on and off for years. More off than on, but I quite like a look currently.

The thing I really don't understand is "naice ". I've never come across it anywhere else. Can someone explain it to me like I'm 7 please? I totally don't understand it. Is it like kitsch? Is it self deprecating? Or smug?

Can someone help???

It was on a shopping list that someone found. Naice ham..... Was it a misspell or someone being posh ( think Hyacinth) It's possibly somewhere in Classics

Thanks 😊 So is it a hyacinth bucket type micky take?

It is definitely a Hyacinth Bucket mickey take. Just say it out loud, and that will tell you all you need to know. It's the kind of ham one buys when one has invited the new vicar to tea, until one hears their 'freightful' common accent and it gets whisked away and replaced with wet square ham. ( Not me - you understand, but 'one')

Yes! Some one found it written on a shopping list in the basket that they picked up next and we have all been laughing about it since! 😂

No, the shopping list said 'nice ham'. Presumably meaning the not processed, wafer thin, ham.

NAICE ham, was just a mickey take pronunciation thing. Nice said in a faux posh accent, like 'hice' for house, and the Royals saying 'ears' for yes Grin
