He’s actually invited mates round!
he’s not sure what to do with them though. Are they too old to do daft apple dunking/ donuts on strings/ scary treasure hunt?
we live next to a massive old orcahrd that’s empty - I’d have been sneaking about with torches, pinching apples and building bonfire, but ds says’why?’
I know it’s up to him, just would love him to have a good time as all been a bit tricky this year. But then I’m not him, and lived before screens and Covid.

Get lots of food in, maybe order pizzas and leave them to it at that age. 🎃 At that age I’d guess they’ll eat lots, game and watch movies.

Whatsgoingon12345 · 27/10/2023 13:44

Thank you! Sound nice and simple! Dominos it is ,.😋

Do not set up a "scary treasure hunt" for him 😅. Are you trying to fucking ruin him OP?

Pizzas, cans of pop, scary film, gaming. Oh, and leave them to it, no hovering around 😂

Sorry, but laughing at this comment about the scary treasure hunt. I'm trying to imagine my own 15 year old's reaction if I suggested that. I think he'd leave home.

The stages are:
Child - enjoy trad Halloween activities
Teen- roll eyes at Halloween activities
Student- organise ironic Halloween activities
Adult- enjoy trad Halloween activities

Just let them watch films.

HollyGolightly4 · 27/10/2023 14:10

So true @MidnightOnceMore !!

ChienneDesFromages · 27/10/2023 15:12

I've got 3 14/15 year old girls coming over and they are really looking forward to pumpkin carving, biscuit decorating, apple bobbing and going out for a pizza before settling in for Halloween Strictly. Maybe I just know very immature teens?!

Thursa · 27/10/2023 15:17

Buy some Hallowe’en sweets, order pizza, put scary films on.

Or perhaps very mature, they could be at the ironic stage already!

Laiste · 27/10/2023 15:33

My DD3 (23) is (still) well into Halloween! She'd have loved a scary treasure hunt when she was 15 😂

She enjoys it through DD4 now - who's 8 🙂

Pascha · 27/10/2023 15:36

Ds1 is 13, he invited five mates round tomorrow night. I'm just providing pizza and the run of Netflix, Xbox etc. I'm pretty sure they will be Nerfing each other around the village and playing vast amounts of Minecraft but I see my job as to provide the food and be the nominal Responsible Adult.

That wouldn't surprise me. Although DD couldn't watch Scooby Doo until she was eight, so....

mondaytosunday · 27/10/2023 15:42

Scary movies and pizza.

Loopyloooooo · 27/10/2023 15:50

I'd buy in a load of snacks/ cans of fizzy pop..order a dominoes ...give permission to download a couple of horror films...then I'd hide in another room at the other end of the house till they all leave 😆😟.

Whatsgoingon12345 · 28/10/2023 08:40

Thank you! I’ll do dominoes and hide option! I certainly wouldn’t organize a treasure hunt 😳kind of don’t get why they don’t do ‘stuff’ - like nerf guns even.
DS wants to burn sausages and marshmallows over a fire pit, watch films so as long as he’s happy.
I just don’t really get what 15 yr old boys like. I used to get up to all sorts with my brother - make a haunted hallway, scary video, papier-mâché guy. Gues different strokes etc. just feel a bit sad
he sits on computer all the time, so am super pleased he’s doing this.

Are you staying home while they are round OP? If you were planning on going out I'd reconsider 😀

I had a Halloween party at 16 with just 6ish of us (3 girls, 3 boys) and my parents very nicely went out for a few hours (I think they took my younger brother to a party), anyway in that time we managed to make a mess, break the hoover tidying the mess, and were attempting a ouija board just as my very Catholic parents came home.

Whatsgoingon12345 · 28/10/2023 09:07

girasol that’s brilliant! You have made ma laugh! I’d LOVE ds to do that sort of malarkey 😀maybe I’ll ‘find’ a ouiji board and just happen to leave it out. And go out, that is a good idea

OP posts:
Abbyant · 29/10/2023 11:56

order a scary movie, pizza, lots of snacks and have the games console set up on the biggest tv they’ll all be happy. Teenaged boys are simple creatures 😂

Throwawaygh · 29/10/2023 12:00

I’d get nerf guns and masks, set half up as zombies and half as zombie killers and let them go wild in the orchard in the dark 😂 Then in for pizza and a scary movie!

Irishmama100 · 29/10/2023 12:46

I am laughing so much at this!! It’s all about the street cred!🤣🤣

Whatsgoingon12345 · 29/10/2023 13:35

Aww you’re all brilliant!
love this throway unfortunately no, but they had pizza snacks and films and stayed up all night so I’m guessing it was fun! DS yet to surface😁😁👍
how did you guys get on?!

OP posts:
zeibesaffron · 29/10/2023 22:06

Scary film a number of them are now 15’s!! Pizza/ gaming - job done!

K4tM · 29/10/2023 22:30

I think they’d love nerf gun battles in the orchard (all ‘ironic’ of course). Freaky masks preferable (my students love it when we do forces in physics and that’s in broad daylight ..!)

Followed by a fire that they do themselves, just leave out the stuff they need inc toasting marshmallows and maybe some hot choc in a flask for them to pour.

After that there could be age appropriate scarey movies …

Your Halloween party is now the stuff of Legend ie memories are made. Let’s just hope Freddie doesn’t turn up …

Shame on peeps saying setting up fun stuff (surreptitiously) is not cool.

Magicmama92 · 30/10/2023 12:49

Ask him what he would want. I find teens are all different. At that age we would still have probably liked to do something like that but I am a girl. Best option is to ask. Pizza films and sweets sounds like a good plan though
