Local Gov Pension: Would a 16-19yo working part-time in 1988-91 be opted in?

In 1988 I was 16 and had a Saturday job in a library. I also worked there for a few weeks in two of my summer holidays, though can't remember if that was full time or part time. I also can't remember if I was paying into the Local Government Pension Scheme. Does anyone know whether I would have been opted in automatically at that time?

Ring the national government pensions helpline, they can tell you about any pensions you have ever had. I doubt it very much. I also worked as a Saturday assistant in a library when in sixth form and was not opted in and also the eighties.

Auto enrolement for pensions wasn't introduced until 2012 so seems unlikely unless you asked, that you would be enrolled on the scheme.

I doubt it, auto enrollment only came in in 2012 and even now it only applies if you're 22+

I doubt it. I worked as a Saturday assistant for a few years from around 1990 but didn’t join the LGPS until I got a full time library assistant job after that and enrolled onto the scheme.
