Having a clean out and crying as children growing up

How pathetic is that?

DC have just gone on holiday with their dad for the first time ever - we've been split 10 years and they'll be gone 8 days having never been for longer than 5 before, and that's rare.

I thought I'd take the opportunity to clean out the second attic 'room of doom'. It's always darkish up there anyway as limited natural light and crappy spotlights put in previous owner don't do a lot.

I've found little cardigans knotted for the dc as babies by may favourite aunt who has since died. The first JoJo maman bebe bedspread thing I bought them. Nappy wraps. Evidence of all their past obsessions - dinosaurs, fire engines, MLP, fucking shopkins, Octonauts, Little farm animals. A telescope we never really got the hang of, Frozen stuff... It's so sad that era has just gone. I was stressed out,, bored, sad but also so happy for so much of it and now it's just over.

The stuff is going to the tip mainly as nothing is in sets and a lot is broken or with missing parts. Some will go to charity and some I still have to keep (the cardigans). Is this what everyone does with the vast quantities of toys that dc accumulate? It's a really miserable day here and I have picked a really miserable task to do!

Oh I remember doing this some years ago and feeling so sad too! I suspect I threw away a few bits I regret, so don't be too hasty.
