Taylor Swift at cinema

Hi

Has anyone seen the Taylor Swift gig at an early showing or during half term?

I've seen it but want to go again. There were a lot of kids singing and dancing in the first showing and I'm wondering if that risk is higher for a half term show.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

DD and her friends went before half term. There were quite a few people there but although everyone sang along she said nobody was dancing.

EmmaEmerald · 25/10/2023 18:14

Thank you

the singing is the bigger problem. I want to hear Taylor. The kids singing did get told off by a random lady from the far side of them, because they were that loud. They tried to chat while Taylor was doing a talky bit and I nearly shouted "excise me, Taytay is SPEAKING" but someone else got there first.

I'll give it a miss and hope for a streaming show at some point.

DD was in the cinema on her own. She danced and sang out loud through the whole thing. I’m only sorry I wasn’t there to see it.

Lots of fans call her that 😂

As in, she was the only one there? Wow, that must have been fab!

Yes the only one in the whole cinema. She says she’d prefer if her friends could have made it but she absolutely loved it.

DD is going with friends tomorrow. As far as I understand they will treat it like a concert and hence therefore I assume they will sing and dance.

If you would go to the concert you would also have lots of fans singing with her, I assume that is normal (can't handle concerts, never go myself).

If you want to treat it like a documentary then yes, wait for Netflix.

EmmaEmerald · 25/10/2023 18:41

Yes, .i'd not go to a concert as I'd not cope and not be able to hear anyway.

I had a marvellous time not ruining everything 😂 the first time so I'll leave it there.

there were two teens alone when I went. We chatted before and after the show and they weren't thrilled with the singing either but they were seated closer to it than I was. It wasn't too bad, so potentially a lot worse in half term.

I looked at cinemas further afield and saw entire front rows booked up, so not an option as I know what that means. It's nice to see the next generation of Swifties in a way, but forking out another £20 to not hear is a bad plan! Thanks all.

I went Sunday, it was a mixture. People either side of me and dd didn't move, no singing etc, not even a toe tap! But then there was a large party of about 15 girls aged about 10 who drove everyone mad! I'm not sure they even watched the concert! They were up,down, off to the toilet about 50 million times, standing up chatting, had their phones out recording it and getting in the way. And it wasn't just 1 or 2 of them, it was all of them going together! They were told several times by different people if they could stop getting up. The staff came in and spoke to the parents but nothing seemed to happen. I get it was a concert and was expecting people to sing, but wasn't expecting to be constantly disrupted!

grievinggirlneedsadvice · 25/10/2023 18:58

I went last week and it was fab- loads of people singing and dancing but I fully expected that!
These kids maybe would love to go and can't afford it so it gave them the experience they needed and they were all dressed up absolutely loving it! I would never have dreamed of telling them to be quiet- people singing along is part of a concert experience.
If you want to hear it in silence wait to be able to buy it/documentary.

There's singing and there's scream singing though. Big difference.

The people in front of us didn't move a muscle.
The solo teens were so sweet - I was properly sobbing in Champagne Problems - his heart was glassed, I dropped it - one of them walked over after and hugged me. My bestie is used to me dropping hearts so she didn't give a crap, lol.

They were saying we need singalong showings and non singalong showings, which is a great idea. I felt sorry for them as they'd clearly planned their experience to be alone and ended up really close to the noisy group.

I've been twice and second time only me and DD were singing (quietly, with each otger) as far as I could tell, one week after it started. It was all older couples and mums and grown up daughters! The first time was much more kids and more lively.
I'd say go back and try again! It's so good!

thanksamillion · 25/10/2023 19:35

Is there a fancy cinema near you? The one near us (small screens, sofa style seats, can order food to seats etc) was screening it and the price was the same as the big cinemas. I imagine you'd get a more refined experience there!

Pootle40 · 25/10/2023 19:40

I want to see it again. I watched it on IMAX but my cinema no longer showing it on the imax screen so I'm worried it won't be as good.

Very rude of the lady, Taylor herself and the chains encourage people to sing and have a concert experience.

Exactly. Tbh I’d be more disturbed by you sobbing at’taytay’ song

How old are you, Op? Are you really young?

mindutopia · 25/10/2023 21:46

Dd and I are going to see it tomorrow - £12 per child, 15 per adult at our local independent cinema, btw - and this is filling me with equal parts horror and excitement. 😂

Also, I cry at everything. I cried at the Paw Patrol film the other day with my 5 year old, so I really hope I don't cry...again...as usual.

megletthesecond · 25/10/2023 21:52

I really want to see it but it's so long. I can't just sit down for that length of time and do nothing 😕. It's a pity the cinema is too dark to take some sewing with me.

Margaritawithlime · 25/10/2023 21:59

We went to on of the previously mentioned independent cinemas. It was like a nightclub. Glow sticks given out at the front desk, singing, dancing, wine. And that was just me. The little girls there had the best time and I’d go again tomorrow. Was brilliant.

spidermonkeys · 25/10/2023 22:03

I thought the point of it was to treat it like a live show from what I've seen online ?

23Oct · 25/10/2023 22:04

You're hugging random children you don't know who are there alone? This whole thing is weird

organicbox · 25/10/2023 22:17

For me, the girls singing their heads off and dancing was my favourite bit
