Flood evacuation- pregnant

Just got a call from my daughter to say the police knocked on their door and they have to evacuate from the house due to the floods.
She is just over 40 wks pregnant with her first baby!
They only moved into the house 2 wks ago!
They don't think the house will flood but the lanes will be inaccessible soon.
My husband has just driven over to help collect her, her partner and their dogs .
Such a worry!

Oh no! I hope they're safe. At least the Police got them out in time.

Oh dear. Sending good vibes. Fingers crossed for her

Oh gosh, not what she needs at all. She needs to remember her maternity notes. And the stress of this could totally bring on labour, so worth having her hospital bag and some bits just in case.

I wonder how long she is likely to be out of her home for?

They’ve just arrived here and they have the hospital bags, notes, crib, etc.

The Police stopped my husband when he was just entering their village and he said he was picking up his daughter who was pregnant, and they radioed ahead “pregnant lady’s dad is on his way!”

Oh my goodness! How long until the water peaks?

Katherineryan · 24/10/2023 12:56

Not sure when it will peak, as rain is forecast for the next couple of days. I think they will be staying with us til Friday at least.
Some of their neighbours have not vacated as they don’t expect the houses to flood, but the lanes (only 2 single track lanes into the hamlet) have flooded and obviously they will need to get to the hospital when baby decides to come.
The EA are holding water back via sluice gates etc so that the large towns don’t flood, but this sacrifices small villages, hamlets and farmer’s arable land.
