If food has been directly on them, yes. If it’s hasn’t (ie in a container) then not always.

Riverlee · 23/10/2023 19:02

If they’ve had food directly on them, I’ll wash them. If I’ve had a casserole dish, or apple pie dish on them, then I don’t.

Oldthyme · 23/10/2023 19:04

Yes I do. Sometimes they get really greasy on the underside which I don’t like.

I don’t always wash my non stick frying pan though. I don’t have the heat too high, ever, so I wipe it clean with kitchen paper. Only wash it as necessary if something’s left a bit of residue. Heating it up will destroy any nastiest.

MuggleMe · 23/10/2023 19:04

If there's none clean, and it's had something that hasn't left many crumbs or residue, I'll reuse without washing.

Labradoodlie · 23/10/2023 19:04

^^ what they both said.

BulbasaurBloom · 23/10/2023 19:04

Depends.

Leaky dried on cheese from a pizza? Wash.

no residue or a couple of breadcrumbs? Nah, I’d leave it.

Peepshowcreepshow · 23/10/2023 19:04

Depends. Something greasy or messy, obv. Piece of bread toasting under the grill - shake over the sink and good to go. I tend to use foil or a silicon whatsit so if I've got one of those on, unless I make a pig's ear of it all, I wouldn't wash it then.

Saschka · 23/10/2023 19:05

Oh dear god yes, always! You’ll have rancid food residue and grease on it otherwise. Yuck.

Strugglingtodomybest · 23/10/2023 19:08

Depends whether it's dirty or not. We tend to use baking paper in them for a lot of things so the baking paper goes in the bin and the baking tray goes back in the drawer.

camelfinger · 23/10/2023 19:10

Yes, unless it’s one of those things in a foil tray with instructions to place on a baking tray and there are no leaks.

I just ignore those instructions and put them straight on the rack! I have oven liners though.

OP, I wash my over liners once a year or so (or if I have a leak, but that isn’t often). So if your DH is using the baking tray like that, he’s probably ok. I was envisioning actual food placed directly on the tray, and not washing in that situation would be grim.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 23/10/2023 19:20

I just put a piece of baking paper on my trays before I put the food on. No sticking and mostly no washing.
