Quick - ideas for not lame wedding present

Friend of mine is getting married in a few days. I’m not invited to the wedding, it’s close family only. I wanted to send her a little something anyway.

My idea was to send some money in the currency for the country they are going on their honeymoon but the three places in town I tried don’t stock it you have to order it in. I don’t have time to make a big Thing of trying to get it.

Thought about sending cash in Sterling but it feels a bit lame as it won’t be very much money.

They don’t have a registry as they are keeping the wedding so small.

She doesn’t drink so a bottle of champagne is out.

What can I get that isn’t something cringey like matching mugs with “Mr Right” and “Mrs Always Right” ???

Need to send today!

John Lewis vouchers?

MelanieSal · 23/10/2023 13:07

Do you know where they are staying on their honeymoon? Could you give them a drinks voucher for the hotel bar or something like that?

TwoCoffeesPlease · 23/10/2023 13:13

@MelanieSal that’s a lovely idea but I don’t know unfortunately!

Send flowers to their honeymoon destination

Flickersy · 23/10/2023 13:20

Just wait until they get back, or send something so it's waiting for them on their return.

Could you buy them a voucher for a nice restaurant near where they live? Or a buy a gift type experience voucher?

Rosequartzz · 23/10/2023 13:24

We were given some really nice thoughful gifts. Here's a few we enjoyed Afternoon tea, spa day, candle holder with our wedding date, a samoan symbol for family, napkin rings with Hungarian love birds .. we had friends from different parts of the world so its nice to get traditional things
We did have crystal mrs and mrs champagne glasses which i love ! Personalisef cheese board, mr and mrs set of coasters (these are actually really nice)

Not very imaginative but I got various friends a Bronte Moon woollen blanket in similar situation. I have one myself and it’s lovely on the knees in winter.

One of my friends bought us theatre tickets for 3 months after our wedding date - something like that or a meal booked somewhere they like

A hamper of goodies for when they return

PinkRoses1245 · 23/10/2023 13:35

I’d do a voucher for local restaurants or shopping vouchers.

I received a blanket as a wedding gift many years ago. It was my favourite blanket, children grew up loving it, and still going strong now.

Local garden centre and buy something that blooms this time of year for her garden?

Its5656 · 23/10/2023 14:13

Vouchers or a nice photo frame.

EerilyDecorated · 23/10/2023 14:16

I'd go with vouchers too. Not anything with Mr and Mrs on it unless you are 100% sure they are using those titles and will like it (would have gone straight to the charity shop here).

ButterMyParsnip · 23/10/2023 14:16

Does she or he enjoy cooking? A 3 month subscription to The Spicery's date night package is a good gift.

TwoCoffeesPlease · 23/10/2023 14:31

Thank you everybody! I have ordered an afternoon tea voucher for a hotel near where they live which I could thankfully send straight to their address!
