Big days out during the year vs yearly holiday?

if it's financially one or the other what would you do?

Option one would be one abroad holiday a year but no UK weekend trips and no big days out over summer.

Option two would be maybe two weekend breaks to a seaside town in the UK like a caravan holiday. But do more day trips theme parks, London, bowling, trampoline parks and waterpark type things throughout summer.

When our dc were younger we did the days out and uk breaks. Now they are older teens we did the big holiday abroad in the summer, but it's just been half term and I would have liked to go somewhere (they wouldn't though, as they have mates, girlfriends and hobbies to keep them occupied)

Maybe alternate between the 2 options? Personally I love a bit of sun so I’d probably go for the abroad holiday.

Can't you do abroad holiday that is cheaper than an all inclusive? Canvas holidays or Eurocamp? We have used Huttopia a few times. There's also Center Parcs Europe. You could get a week for around £800-1000.

Also you could do a week May Half Term rather than summer hols.

Then do a few Premier Inn type breaks at other points during year.

For me I'd choose holiday abroad. I never went abroad until I was 18 and I did miss out kn a lot. I love the excitement of going to somewhere new, hearing different languages and trying food and seeing things that you would never see at home. We live in London and can have lots of really interesting free days out - we bring a packed lunch, and don't pay any extra in transport as we already have travelcards, and can spend nothing but have brilliant entertainment all weekend. Less choice in other places but still lots of options.

Well we have done Brittany and Hollland in May. But I think other people would have better ideas of somewhere you can fly for a decent price.

Depends what your budget is for your abroad holiday - I'd try do a bit of both as we love a holiday and mini breaks but keep both cheaper. A camping holiday in France is great and while isn't pennies can be great value. I'd then couple it with some treaty things in the year but again lower cost options where possible, or weekends with friends etc.
