I’ve just done my washing, then I’ll do teen dc’s then I’m doing sheets and towels = 3 loads!

It’s a lovely day here (South Wales) so hopefully I can dry it outside.

That’s the excitement for the day!

How much washing are you doing today?

I did a load overnight which I still need to hang up to dry. If there is still drying space I'll put the kid's bedding on too.

It has been sunny here this morning but also only 10°c so I didn't think the washing would dry outside and plan to hang it up inside on airers by the radiators.

Calonyddraig · 22/10/2023 11:50

South wales too 😆 and 3-4.

Frankinbeans · 22/10/2023 11:51

I have washed one load but I had 4 loads to put away.

I wash throughout the week and as the loads dry I leave them in a big pile. Then on Sunday mornings when I have more time the clothes get folded and put away.

975zyx · 22/10/2023 11:53

Four, possibly five if it stays sunny *glares at red items lurking in the bottom of the basket.

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/10/2023 11:56

DP's put one on/will hang it up. We usually wash our towels on a weekend so they went in this morning when he got up but that's likely the extent of it here.

FizzyStream · 22/10/2023 11:57

Three loads but we have had guests staying over the weekend so more than usual!

DustyMaiden · 22/10/2023 11:58

I’ve done three, no line space left. It is a lovely day. The calm after the storm.

ATPOAIM · 22/10/2023 11:58

None. Did one yesterday.

RantyAnty · 22/10/2023 12:56

None
Staying with sister while waiting for new home to be ready, who has neither a washer or drier. 😭

I have fantasies about washing everything I own after I move in, and running my new Roomba.

mandydandy · 22/10/2023 13:26

Two because we are trying not to use the tumble drier. We are also trying this money saving scheme where you get money back if you don't use big appliances from 4pm until 7pm. If I can sneak a third at night and hang it on the drier overnight I will be delighted. Depends on how the other stuff dries through they say though.

Ihateslugs · 22/10/2023 13:37

I live alone so don’t really need to wash clothes more than once a week. However, my kitchen is being ripped out tomorrow and I’ll be without my washer for at least 4 weeks so I’ve just washed three loads of absolutely everything I can find - bedding, clothes, towels and even the door mats! After that I’ll be going to a launderette, need to find one first, so I’m hoping not to have to go too often.

Luckily I seem to have a stockpile of knickers so will be fine for a few weeks!

Xiaoxiong · 22/10/2023 13:42

One as usual which is drying in the sunshine now, but I decided to do a proper wet mop of the kitchen floor with hot soapy water as it should dry quickly today with the breeze and fine weather!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/10/2023 14:09

Just taken out a t shirt I washed last night (DH's sweaty running too which needed another wash), just put some blankets in and will probably do the bedding. Then I've just got bits and pieces. I wfh Thursday and Friday so get most of it done then tbh. Did a couple of loads yesterday as well. Sorry my answer isn't very helpful 😂

Floralnomad · 22/10/2023 14:16

I’m just on my 4 th load today - have done all the beds ( all kingsize ) , I’ve got the dogs blankets left to do and a load of non tumble drying stuff that will likely have to wait until tomorrow as my hanging / drying space is full from yesterday .

TiredMamOfTwo · 22/10/2023 14:18

Two, one school clothes & one whites.

My tumble dryer died a death so having to try to dry it all outside. Envy

2023shady · 22/10/2023 14:59

One, because I can't dry outside Sad and the airer only holds one load

MyCircumference · 22/10/2023 15:30

i dont have a tumble drier, no heating on yet, so since it is a dry day i am washing and hanging on the line but at this time of year it is so difficult to get the washing dry

Beezknees · 22/10/2023 15:33

None. I did a load on Friday and then washed the bedding yesterday. I don't have any more to do.

Ihateslugs · 23/10/2023 01:19

Slightly off topic, but am I sad to be so pleased at having a shower before bed and then snuggling down in a clean nighties between freshly washed sheets?

DiscoBeat · 23/10/2023 01:22

3 - average daily load.

CherryCake54 · 23/10/2023 01:31

Serious question. Why/how do people create so much laundry where they have to do it every single day, multiple loads of it? Even if you're a family of 4 say, 4 people's clothes from one day doesn't equate to an entire load of laundry? I accept towels/bed sheets are a different matter but they're only done weekly/fortnightly. What's in all the multiple daily loads?? Do people not separate darks and lights either? If so, how are these multiple daily loads even close to a decent size load?

Genuinely curious?

StillWantingADog · 23/10/2023 08:21

@CherryCake54
also curious.
we are
a family or four including very sporty boys and on average I do one a day but it tends to be more at weekends (2 a day) then some gaps during the week

that said I have read here that some mnetters wash towels and pyjamas and everything else after ONE use.

Candyflosscrochet · 23/10/2023 12:43

Family of 6 here. Usually a dark wash 4/5 times a week, white wash 1x week then extra day for what's needed....i don't have enough school uniform for each day of the week for the 3 that are at school and I go against mumsnet rules and wash bedding 1x fortnight and towels usually weekly (or so). Rather do it daily than wait and do it all at the weekend.

CrunchyCarrot · 23/10/2023 12:46

Sadly none because we have the cold water turned off so a descaler fitted to the boiler pipes can be replaced. Leaked everywhere last week, only today getting a plumber to fix it. Once fixed I have a mountain of washing as all my towels are wet and dirty due to the leak and I can't wait to get them cleaned! I think more rain is coming though so might have to hold off for another day.

Apossum · 23/10/2023 12:50

Got the third in the machine at the moment.. we were away in London for a few days this past week for a music event and we’re away again Tuesday-Thursday this week so I seem to have a lot of washing to do and sort and lots of packing/unpacking/packing to do 🤣
