I want to send some flowers to a special friend for her birthday. Which company would you recommend for freshness and delivery?

Local one to where the person lives. Support local

Bluevelvetsofa · 21/10/2023 20:39

Agreed

way2serious · 21/10/2023 20:40

Thanks. I really hadn’t thought of that. Don’t know why but a great suggestion.

I've never been disappointed receiving flowers from M&S.

Hadalifeonce · 21/10/2023 20:50

I always go through a local florist.

Squirrelsonthescaffolding · 21/10/2023 20:51

I’ve been using bunches florapost for years. 10% of profits go to charity and they have letterbox flowers which fit thru letterbox which is handy if you don’t know if someone is likely to be in. But have also used a florist local to where I’m sending them as pps have suggested

I second M&S.
Next are good, too.

Def bunches, good discounts LB25 will get 25%off

Local are usually good, but the last lot I sent were a letterbox via Bloom & Wild, and the recipient said they were amazing (tulips in bloom with bulbs attached so they could go on to plant them in the garden). Apparently the flowers do look a bit feeble on arrival, but they give you instructions as to how to 'revive' them.

ChicoryDip · 21/10/2023 21:12

It's a more expensive option but having used Next, M&S, Waitrose and a number of others I've gone back to Interflora. They use local florists, contact you if there's a problem with the delivery, offer same day delivery on some bouquets, and on the one occasion that I'd stupidly used an old address they even refunded the order.

If you send flowers frequently the Delivery Pass is worth buying.

muddyford · 21/10/2023 21:15

I use Scilly Flowers, but not sure there will be much growing on Scilly this time of year, and Cornish Blooms.

The last 3 times I got Bloom and Wild sent to me, they were awful and never revived. I told my friend who sent them that they were beautiful but they really weren't.

Riverlee · 21/10/2023 21:48

Next have always been reliable.

Also used Flying Flowers, Bunches, Bloom and Wild.

Tip - register before buying to get discounts.

Chronicallymothering · 21/10/2023 21:50

Petalon flowers are nice but spenny.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 21/10/2023 22:09

@Disorganisedmess2023 I think it probably depends on the flowers tbh. I'd never send anything like peonies via post, but I did see photos of the tulips & they did look a lot nicer than I'd expected! (I sent them more for the bulbs than the flowers).

DoratheFlora · 21/10/2023 22:23

Type address into Google Maps and search for a florist nearby. Check website, Instagram, Facebook and local reviews. You will get far more flowers than if you place the order through Interflora as they take a large cut in commission.

Good luck with Next, M&S and all the others. They're all a bit hit and miss.

Beebumble2 · 21/10/2023 22:39

I’ve just sent some from Waitrose, after trawling the internet they seemed the best . They arrived in great condition and open just enough to last at least 10 days.
I tried to go local, but the florists were either only offering interflora on line, or were very ‘fancy’ mostly offering displays. Probably due to being in an expensive county.

FarEast · 22/10/2023 07:00

I use Bloom and Wild, for preference their Letterbox flowers.

PepeLePugh · 22/10/2023 07:25

Do NOT use Serenata flowers. I once stupidly used them to send flowers to a friend after her mum died and firstly they didn't deliver the day they were ordered for, they then "turned up" 4 days later and were pretty much thrown at her front door and were all brown and manky. I was so embarrassed that this had happened when it was supposed to be a nice gesture. I always support local florists now.

LiftyLift · 22/10/2023 07:32

I have had Bloom and Wild lots over the years and they have went really downhill. This years birthday flowers looked particularly sad and didn’t last.

CherryMaple · 22/10/2023 07:37

I also now use Scilly Flowers - you get locally grown scented narcissi (or pinks in the summer). Beautiful.

I used to use Bloom and Wild a lot. Ironically, I stopped using them after flowers were sent to me. The flowers were alive, but all the more expensive flowers had been substituted out and replaced with the cheapest flowers possible. They came with a leaflet telling me all about each flower in the bouquet - except I hadn’t received any of them in my flowers, which made it worse.

rocknrollaa · 22/10/2023 07:38

I would agree with people saying find a local florist.

The big companies are always hit and miss in my experience - I've tried M&S, Bloom & Wild, Debenhams, Interflora, they're all much of a muchness - sometimes they're good and sometimes they're really not.

The only company I've used for ordering online which has been consistently quite good is one called Cornish Blooms - they are a bit smaller and deliver throughout the UK. Other than that I would look for a local florist in the area where the person lives.

Soozikinzii · 22/10/2023 07:39

Serenata are good I've used them alot or blood and wild for the postbox flowers if they aren't going to be in .

Soozikinzii · 22/10/2023 07:40

Bloom ! Obviously!

Einevinefine · 22/10/2023 07:43

Do NOT use Interflora. Just sent my sister flowers for loss of her DH and she sent me the picture of the bouquet. It was pathetic and cost £70. Will never use them again.
