Sound proofing/deadening on a budget

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone atall can give me any suggestions on the best way to sound proof/deaden my ceiling because of how thin the walls are, I can hear the very single thing my upstairs neighbours doing and I can’t take it. I live in a housing association house so I can’t really rip out the ceiling and insulate it so anything that has worked for you will be appreciated.

(I have tried foam boards - they do not work) 😪

You could try to find out what flooring the upstairs Tennant's have installed. Laminate and wood floors make a lot of noise, so much so that many landlords and housing associations won't permit it.

There are expanding foams on the market that help fill voids to limit sound travel. You could drill holes periodically in the ceiling and inject the void with foam. But you would really be better to get approval before you did this, as it isn't easy to remove once fitted.

There are also sound preceding plaster panels you can purchase. These would be screwed over you existing ceiling and the plastered and painted. These are probably your best solution, but again, you would probably want to get permission first.
