Pulling out of house purchase

FTB. After LOTS of thought, research, professional advice have decided to pull out due to what the survey has thrown up and I'm not in a financial position to repair and maintain this house. Have a mortgage broker and solicitors are well on their way doing all the conveyancing.
What's the process? Who do I tell first and how? How much detail do I go into to who about why I'm pulling out? Obviously feeling shit for the sellers but I can't buy this house.

Tell your solicitor who can tell everyone else. However out of courtesy I would also call the estate agent who is marketing the property so they can let their client know asap.

Hi @Tulips78
Let your solicitor and estate agent know. I had to pull out of a flat purchase, it's a huge investment so it has to be right for you, don't worry x

Im assuming you haven't exchanged? If not don't sweat it, it happens a lot x

I would tell your solicitor and give them lots of details just so they are fully aware.

I’d also tell the Estate Agent with a shorter explanation (‘following the survey there’s too much work needed for us to consider going ahead’) but be ready for them to ask you a load of questions, and for them to potentially come back and negotiate with you. It’s their job to try and get the sale through.

So I would think carefully in advance about what, if any negotiations you are prepared to enter into.

They might also ask to see your survey. You are not obliged to share this so just say no.

You can just do it all through your solicitor but I’d expect a call from the EA anyway.

Stick to your guns!
