Cool clothes for 8 year old!

I’m so clueless as he’s my first.

8 year old DS. What are the cool clothes for his age? Seems to mainly be sportswear, do I just get him a load of tracksuits from Sports Direct?!

I miss being able to dress him in funky leggings as a toddler!

I'm not sure most 8 year olds are particularly fashion conscious so sportswear will be fine!
My son & his friends wear a mix of Pokémon and Minecraft mixed in too.
When my eldest started to get more bothered with clothes it was Nike, adidas, Air Jordan etc

I thought the same until very recently but have been surprised at how brand heavy/conscious the kids are at his school! Lots probably influenced by older siblings.

I never had cool clothes so am probably over thinking this!

Ds 8 doesn’t do tracksuits at all. Most not all of his classmates do though. He wears jeans, converse or gazelles, long sleeved-shirts now and checked shirts over the top or hoodies. The only branded stuff is his footwear partly because he has very big feet ( just gone into a 6) and it’s what I can get, he’ll wear and fits.

Have you tried Zara OP?
Their kid’s clothes are relatively cool.

They'll all be into different things. DS1 (7.5) has relatively staid clothes tastes for a kid, he likes plain tracksuit bottoms, plain jeans, tshirts and zip up hoodies (jumpers are too hot). He wont wear anything too bright and cheerful. Honestly most of his clothes might as well be DHs.

I get most of his clothes at Asda (because he likes playing football and getting muddy) with the occasional smarter thing from H&M or M&S for church or parties.

My 8yo hates jeans so he mostly wears chino-type trousers, track pants and shorts. Tops are usually anything with Star Wars or Minecraft, and trainers are Adidas or Nike from Sports Direct.

He’s not into sports brands yet and hope to keep it that way as long as possible!

Love this, sounds so cool! Wish my DS wanted to dress like that!

Thanks @Blackandwhitemakesgrey yes I used to get a lot of his things from Zara, I’ve got a couple of bits from there this month, need to take another look.

He’s also not a big fan of jeans but I’ve bought him one pair in the hope I can force him to wear them for special occasions!

At that age my son wore mostly clothes from Boden, John Lewis and occasionally next. He definitely wore nothing cool and still doesn't. He's 13 now and thankfully not into brands, which are usually overpriced poor quality unimaginative tat. I'm finding it harder as he gets older, but presumably in a couple of years he'll be in men's clothes and there will be much more choice. Teenage clothes, esp boys clothes are dire. It's all black and white sports gear and nothing like interesting graphic t shirts or things in a variety of colours.

My son is 10 he wears vans, volcom, dc skate, etnies, levis, nike, adidas, hilfiger

I let my son choose his own clothes outside of school and therefore he wears football shirts, jogging bottoms, trainers, T shirts and hoodies with SpongeBob or Mario or Sonic, and jackets from Decathlon. This seems pretty standard in his class, based on today's showing (mufti day).

I think at 8 if a child is dressed for style, it usually means they aren't allowed choose their own clothes.
