Ideas for 1 year old daughter Christmas present??

Flippers1956 · 20/10/2023 07:47

I hate to talk about Christmas so early but I'd like to be organised!!

My daughter will be 18 months at Christmas and I've no idea what to get her! She has an older brother so we have lots of big things that we do need to buy as we kept large toys that we thought would be needed as well as lots of books and puzzles and education toys which I have kept

Im not one to go OTT for the children's Christmas, and for her first Christmas last year we only got her a few little things ans she was only 6 months old and obviously did not understand

She really loves dolls and babies etc.. and already has a few dolls and prams so I'm pretty stuck on what to get her!

Thanks in advance

She's still not overly going to know what's going on. You can try to wrap up some old toys that you already have. It will be new for her and she'll appreciate it all the same

My own daughter loved her dolls and all that goes with dolls a lot! For some occasions we bought her smaller stuff like a feedingbottle & bottlewarmer, a plate and spoon for her doll, a nice doll-bib, a high chair, a small bath etc. She has played with her dolls untill she was 11 😊

I bought my little boy a Tonie box at this age. They are great. He’s almost 4 and still uses it multiple times per day. I have a £15 off referral code for buying one if you want it but I’ve no idea if I’m allowed to share it here…

Dolly bunk bed?

You do not need to spend a lot of money as she's too young to know. I bought DD1 a mini dustpan and brush - she was always obsessed with mine. I reckon it cost about £5 but she could not have been more delighted.

Has she got a toy tea set (plastic so it won't break)?

rainbowsparkle28 · 21/10/2023 23:39

Wooden car transporter/ vehicles
Wooden ramp racer toy

We had the same issue last year when my daughter was 19 months and will to a similar extent this year too! We got my son a play kitchen when he was her age but it was a wooden one and is still used by both kids! She’s got his old scooter and balance bike too as again we got good quality so they are still in great condition. She just needed a new helmet for her birthday.

Last year we started doing the something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read, something to do (this last one has a few variations but we did do), we got them two from each category then they had one present from ‘Santa’ and one from each other plus their stocking with some chocolate, socks, a couple of small fidget toys (DS has ADHD/ASD so we go through a lot of them!) and Xmas Eve box with new pjs, a book, some hot choc and few chocolates. It helped me to not go crazy with buying stuff too.

For the youngest I got the
‘want’ - Bluey car and some figures & a doll
Need - a Bluey nightlight/torch & some flashing Bluey wellies (we like Bluey in this house 😆)
Read - 2 acorn woods book we didn’t have from DS being younger
Wear - two outfits in her next size
Do - a small duplo set (to add to the box from her brother) & some playdoh
She got a music box (the wind up kind with the magnetic twirling characters on top) from DS as he has one and wanted her to have one too
they had swimming boy and girl dolls (baby Bjorn) from Santa as that is what DS told santa they wanted ‘ l want a baby boy swimming doll and my sister wants the baby girl one). They are actually pretty cool and they both love them.

My parents got her a dolls house & a set with a small crib, car seat & a high chair for her dolls with bottles and feeding bowl.

This year I’m thinking/have already bought;

Some more Bluey figure sets
Some clothes/sleeping bag for her dolls
bluey play doh set (she’s asked for play doh, it’s all she’s asked for!)
A smeds and smoos t shirt as she’s obsessed with ‘the purple baby’

We’ve also bought tickets for Bluey’s Big play for both of them and I’ve asked grandparents to just buy a few things then give us money towards an annual pass. My parents are going to do the 5 categories (but just get one small thing from each) then give us the money for the annual pass. We got so much use from a Legoland pass we asked the in laws for last year (we’re about an hour away)

Sorry that’s long but might give you some ideas!

We were the same. My main concern was if we didn't get little one much, older one would think Santa didn't like littlest(she oberthinks everything) so actually gave some older age toys to little one so it matched better and then when oldest wanted to play with them too it made sharing easier as they both had something the other wanted whereas normally it little one begging/stealing.
We asked for clothes, experience or loyalty cards for softplay etc from people that wanted to buy. Then Santa went all out and bought a slide that fixes on the stairs for them to share which the both adore.

We have bought our 1 year old (18 months at christmas) a dozy dinkum doll, 10 books from the works, bluey colouring book, crayola crayons, 1 set of pjs, pack of socks and the barbie little people dreamhouse.
In the same position as she has lots of hand me down toys and loves dolls so we thought if she likes the little people set it opens up the option to buy add ons for it on birthdays and next christmas etc. The dream house is about £40 and comes with 2 figures and her nan and grandad have got the matching car which was £15 and has 2 figures

I like to give experiences and days out rather than toys and clutter that they don’t need. Little Starts gift vouchers can be used for children’s activity groups and classes, so they are good for that age. I think there are a few others that are similar.

TheBirdintheCave · 23/10/2023 16:10

My son got books, clothes and some blocks in one of those wheelie carts when he was one. He was more interested in unwrapping everything than what was inside the presents though 😅 He'll be three this year and honestly I think this is the first Christmas where he's actually going to understand what's happening.

LeedsMum87 · 23/10/2023 17:31

We just bought our 1 year old daughter some wooden toys from the Aldi special buy event

ButtonDownBev · 23/10/2023 19:48

I'm in the same situation. Older Ds who is 6 and will be upset if 17 month old baby brother doesn't get anything, even though he doesn't really need anything.

We've got him:
Plastic teaset
That's not my... Books
Bath toys
Dressing gown in bigger size

AlocasiaPolly · 24/10/2023 22:32

Aqua doodle was a huge hit with my daughter at this age.
