Good mental health charities - are there any?!

After a bereavement I want to fundraise for a charity that I feel are trying to improve mental health services but I'm feeling disillusioned with all of them. MIND closed down locally so I don't want to fundraise unless there are actual face to face services made available rather than just a website and phone line. Rethink seemed to be decent but they seem very Midlands based for face to face services and I'm in the NW. Samaritans is obviously brilliant but a bit disjointed to where I felt the cracks formed in my personal bereavement. There is a work fundraiser for Movember but I can't see what they actually do to make a difference to men's mental health in the UK.

I honestly just want better mental health services provided by the NHS 😢 I just keep seeing all the campaigns about talking and I KNOW this is important to change the narrative but I wonder how much money is spent by these various charities just telling people to talk and open up, but when it's not enough there's fuck all else. Just a GP appointment and a 6 month waiting list for talking therapy.

We all accept it's shit, how will things ever change?

With you 100%.

Cruse were helpful when I lost my dh, would you consider them?

Are you set on an adults charity? I had really good support from Winstons Wish when my daughter's dad died and Place2be have also helped. I 100% agree we you about mental health support generally.

Are there any independent ones in your area?
From experience, they tend to offer more than the big national ones (although my local MIND branch is great).

I work in MH. Are there any local ones in your area? They often rely on a mixture of council funding (which can be short term) and funding such as lottery, trusts etc and also client contributions. Plus you're investing into local community services so that's always a plus.

There was a really good bereavement charity which helped my parents but there is not a lot locally outside and informal 'pop in for a chat'. I know that will benefit a lot of people who suffer from loneliness but not in these particular circumstances were acute care was needed and lacked in an overstretched community team. Think I'm asking for something which just doesn't exist. So sad for people crying out for help and not getting the appropriate care.

Not really interested in the national charities, I find a lot of their help is telephone lines signposting to other places.
