Too many clothes?

Ok I know there are much bigger things going on in the world right now but need some opinions as DH says I have too many clothes and it's becoming an issue with him complaining any time I buy anything and I'm starting to wonder what is too much 🤷‍♀️

We currently share one double wardrobe one small chest of drawers and one small hanging rail.

I don't go shopping just for the fun of it, only when I need things but because I work I do have to have work clothes and mum clothes. I don't buy any expensive beauty products, perfumes, make up, shampoos, bags etc and shop cheaply in matalan, new look, next, shein, asos and mostly at sale time two or three times a year unless there is a particular reason to like a work event/wedding etc so really don't think I'm going overboard.

What do you think, am I being excessive?

It depends on how much you’ve actually got. Do you put your summer clothes away in the winter and rotate ? Makes more room.

How on earth are we meant to know OP

it depends on your family finances

and you have provided scant detail about the number of items

Sorrythatnameistaken · 18/10/2023 08:12

Yes I do rotate them by season

@Paltrypam I hadn't thought of adding up by item just by space taken I will have a look - family finances are good we have spare money I don't really want to be giving exact figures.

Op your dh thinks you buy too much

You do not

it really is not something we can answer.

best speak to him and find why he thinks this. And… discuss

Unless you are struggling financially it's up to you how many clothes you have and how many more you buy. It sounds like you have hardly any clothes if you are sharing a double wardrobe, small chest and hanging rail with your DH. Awful that he's sucking the joy out of you trying to look nice.

Can you have the wardrobe and him the hanging rail, and buy those hangers where you can double up the hanging space. I would hate to share wardrobe space with DH, although as I'm getting older I now spend a lot more on staples that last rather than fast fashion, so don't have that many clothes anymore.

DP and I have a double wardrobe and chest of drawers each and I don’t think we have too many clothes.

Dressing in nice clothes is such a boost for people’s self-esteem that clothes shopping is practically self care.

I have a whole room with my clothes in - converted a spare bedroom a couple of years ago 🤣

lindyloo57 · 14/01/2024 09:40

@99victoria me to, the only thing is some of my clothes which I've had for a long time, say over 4/5 years I only wear maybe two to three times in the year, I was thinking I should do a cull of those.
